For all the foreign guests that are coming to this meeting:

When you are in Belgium, don't forget to visit Gent! Only 50 km from Brussels.

Ghent is nice, I know, because I pass it twice a week on my way to Leuven :P
No, Ghent is really a nice place.
But Leuven is nice, as well!
I think they won't have enough time to visit every lovely place in Belgium...

Well, actually about every city in Belgium is worth a visit!
And since they're so close to eachother it's really easy to get there by train.

I'm alive

I've just now learned about this. I could make it over a weekend this summer and would make it a weekend end trip with my girlfriend.
I would definitly come via Thalys (train) on saturday and stay a night in Brussels.

We've just now started planning our vacation for the rest of the year so I can't give any definite dates but July is probably ok for us.

I'm all for making EBT bigger and will help in any capacity but I don't feel the drive to go out of my way and organize stuff like press conferences, giving out flyers, etc.

I like the press conference idea but I'm just worried it will eat up a lot of the time we have. I'm more in favor of meeting everyone for lunch, going to visit something and going out for dinner again. The funnest part of doing this for me would be to meet and talk to people who have found the site fun to participate in.
Mini-europe looks like something worth seeing. Is the Brussels downtown worth spending time in ?

Can belgians tell me how easy it is to move around brussels ? Is there a metro & buses on sundays ?

That's it for now, I'm really glad to see all the excitement this site is generating and how people are going to meet :))

There is public transport on sundays, don't worry. If you like to have more information, then you should look on the site of the STIB. Brussels is quite small, so even on foot is possible :P . This is the site of the Brussels Region (in French), you can take a look to learn to know some nice sites in Brussels, and to learn more about the public transport. Have a good time  .

Ah, the old metropla. Interesting site, indeed. But there are some streetcar and bus lines as well, so the site of the company is more complete. The Brussels Region has an English site as wel. http://www.brussel.irisnet.be/, and select the wanted language...

I wont make it either, Hong Kong is too far away. (Almost 10000 Km from Amsterdam! 8O ) I also don't mean to be hippocritical, but I agree with the people saying no one under 18, as over the net meetings, I'm rather skeptical about. I agree parental consent with someone under 18 would be okay, but when you mix with someone over the net, errrrr........ :? . I do not like the mentioned idea of hitchiking and all this other stuff, reminds me of a few chilling stories recently in Hong Kong.

Can you tell more about it, please? What are the plans? Who will come?

BTW, is it possible to travel from Helsinki to Tampere (and back) by bus for less than 100€? Maybe, I have a few days of vacation and some €s too much  .

A train might be a better idea.
Helsinki-Tampere-Helsinki by train is a bit over 40€.

The VR (Finnish state railways company) site is in http://www.vr.fi/heo/eng/index.html . Just enter Helsinki and Tampere as the stations in the left hand side of the site and you'll get the timetables.

By bus the same route is some 35€.
But a bus isn't a really good option in Finland, because it's slower and a lot bumpier. The bumpiness is partially because we've got so cold winters that the roads freeze and get cracks on them.
Anyway, take the train, it even pollutes less.

And BTW, there are direct flights to Tampere by at least RyanAir :)

RyanAir is even more expensive that date than SN Brussels. Brussels-Tampere is 304€. Brussels - Helsinki is 210€ but probably, it takes at least some hours to get from Helsinki Airport to Tampere. Probably paying 94€ extra will be lots easier :| .

It would be great if you could join the meeting bhoeyb! We don't have any big plans for the meeting. Just meet somewhere and get to know eachother. If you need a place to stay in Tampere you can stay in our apartment. It's not Big but it's comfertable :)

The train from Helsinki to Tampere takes about 1hour 45minutes..
