Two hits yesterday been removed

I would like something to know: Yesterday there were two hits. Both had been removed. Why?
One of them is my first hit.
http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=603464
It took nearly 6000 notes for me to get this hit.
Neither a fake nor a Woombel-hit nor URL printed on the note.
I assure to you it's genuine. Although I got to confess it looks like Woombelism. But why should I lie to myself by creating
faked hits? I'm not interested in!
But that's not all. Half an hour ago there was a hit by two Dutch users. A French 5 Euro note had been found by a Dutch user.
The note was registered first half a year(!!!) ago by another Dutch user. Obviously no fake, but nevertheless both hits had been removed a few hours later (sorry, but no URL available for this case).
So if EBT isn't interested in genuine hits let me know. Then I will cease registering.
I would regret to do because I like EBT, but if this behaviour goes on I will do.
I wish to this guy who did a little bit more "sure instinct" to distinguish between Woombelism and genuine hits or otherwise EBT will get a big problem to motivate users.
Maybe this thread will be removed from this forum too, but I hope there are a lot of users reading this!

I don't think this thread will be removed. the webmaster and moderators are allways open for critic. At my first sight this hit looks real to me. maybe you should sent an PM to the webmaster about this although he will probably also read this topic

Well, that's the problem with moderators -- some of them consider some things as forbidden, some don't. Fortunately, all the moderators have the power to unmoderate the bill, so mistakes like this can be fixed. It's a good thing that you voiced your concern.
Your first hit,
http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=603464 should be visible again, at least I didn't see anything wrong with it. I wonder who moderated it in the first place?
The Dutch hit you're talking about is most probably
http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=200884 and again, I didn't see anything wrong with that. Some moderators need to get a slap on their wrists or something.
While we're at it, could some kind soul please tell me why this hit has been moderated:
http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/index.php ... &id=561123 ? The fact that it hasn't moved out of that city during the two weeks doesn't make it uninteresting.
p.s. to everyone: please remove the PHPSESSID strings from the URL when pasting them here, they're completely unnecessary on the forums.

I've noticed too that some moderators like to moderate a lot. Maybe we should review who is a moderator and who's not. Or make a system that a "fake" hit needs 2 or 3 "votes" from different moderators before it's removed.
But be careful with moderating anyway. We can loose important EBTs who have entered 1000s of bills if their (first) hit is being moderated by "bad" moderators.

Perhaps .. or just a simple guideline: if you're not absolutely sure that the hit should be moderated, don't moderate. Some of these
trigger-happy moderators worry me. All the moderations are logged anyway, so if need be, the webmaster can revoke their moderation rights.

I think Nordstern is right to raise his voice... There is nothing wrong with those hits. Especially the dutch hit, of which the entry was six months old ... Happy Birthday by the way ...
I have the impression almost everything gets moderated ... so we have a completely static site. There used to be fake hits almost every day, but this has improved drastically since the advanced form was taken away for starters ...
I do agree that it is sometimes difficult to judge, but in that case, we have the sticky thread where we can report abuse ...
If it took Nordstern (a top 10 user) over 6000 notes to achieve his first hit, he's right to be pissed off, when this hit eventually gets moderated
The same happened to a loyal Finnish user recently, with no reason.
Loosen up a bit...

All 3 hits have been unmoderated now

I took a closer look at this, and I think I figured out why it was moderated. The second person who entered the note has entered only
one note, and getting a hit with your first note is something strange. It
can happen if someone writes the EBT url on the note, but in this case the person didn't say so in the remark, so this hit remains a bit unclear. Basically, I can understand the moderator's decision in this case and I no longer wish to have his head served to me on a plate

. However, the note was initially entered back in July 2002, so I don't think it's a fake hit and thus I'd leave the hit as is. Granted, moderation is sometimes difficult

I'm a member of the moderatorsteam and I didn't know why your hits were removed. They all look valid to me. Maybe Philippe should enter a comment text box at the moderationtool so every moderation gets a reason why. Also do I suggest when a moderation is done, that the moderators name/nick is placed with the moderated hit. This will make the other moderators lives much easier and when too many unnecessary moderations the moderator in question can be suspended or removed.
Just an idea.
EDIT I second Bhoeyb suggestion to have 3 different moderators votes before a hit is moderated

Ok, here's my take on things...
First, when a bill/hit is moderated, the bill report still indicates all the information so anyone who has a hit can still see it even if it's no longer in the list
Second, the list is a list of interesting bills. A bill that was hit within 2 days in the same town is not interesting to me compared to other so I have no problem seeing those notes at all.
In fact, if the list was only 40 bills long it would make more sense to me.
Let's open a discussion about this...

A hit is also a reward for the effort you put into EBT, even if the hit is uninteresting ...
Maybe uninteresting and moderated should be separated, because moderated until now meant (to me) a fake hit ... Uninteresting and fake are definitely not the same.
So maybe three categories would be more acceptable
Interesting hit
Common hits
Fake/Moderated
I don't know ... some users get really angry about being moderated because their hit was honest, but "uninteresting" to the moderators ...

I only moderate fake hits, seriallist hits and woombelism. I never ever have moderated a hit because it wasn't interesting. I thought that wasn't the goal of EBT. If that is the case, I don't find EBT as interesting as I use to do. For me personally, I want to know where my bills came from and going to. If that is within my own city or at the other side of Europe, it doesn't matter. Offcourse if one of my bills gets far away that would be nice but not an obligation.
It's hard to define "interesting hit". I believe all non-fake, non-seriallist and non-woombelism hits are interesting and should be shown in the interesting hits list

I agree with Mr. Euro.
I don't have a hit yet, and changes of getting one are very small, but I would like to see where (my) notes came from and where they are going to. If only interesting hits would be displayed, well, maybe then it's time for me to find something else to do.
Please, only moderate fake hits and so, not notes that aren't interesting for you, maybe it does for someone else.

I agree
Also don't forget many users would actually quit, because there were falsely moderated. (Moderated = you were cheating ... as I understand it)
If half of the users quit, we will not have any more interesting or uniteresting hits to show, and the discussion will be closed...

Edwin and Skylimit, if your hit is removed form the "intersting" list that doesn't mean you can't see how it traveled !!
Also, the reason I changed the list from "moderated" to "interesting" is because it's more difficult to decidede how to moderate than whether a bill is interesting.
Obviously, some bill reports are more interesting than others. I want to make sure people who visit the site for the first few times see those bills rather than bills going from one hand to the other in the same city or which reported within 2 days
