Ooh! another familiar face (literally, have you had that avatar all this time?) How good to see you're still around.
And you may certainly ask. I know I never thought I would do such a thing. But last year I officially joined the Dutch
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, which is a very,
very liberal religion. I've always been interested in religion, in the institutions, hiërachies, dogmas, in how faith works, why people believe, although (or because?) I've never believed in anything myself. And UU (not to be confused with
Unseen University, although the people can be just as strange) gives me a community of people who are interested in the same things. Or sometimes they're not, but they all agree that we're allowed to believe what we have to believe and there is no One True Faith. Which in turn makes for a very diverse, but very warm and welcoming community.
I first went with a friend after Kurt Vonnegut died. Both Vonnegut and my friend were not active, but certainly familiar with UU. Now my friend is the President of the Netherlands Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and I'm head of the Worship Committee...
