Free Donation a year

Post by bhoeyb »

It has been on the forum before, but I think now is a good moment to ask because of all problems with hosting. Just to have an idea ...

I certainly do, but only if i'm sure that it will be a free donation and if i'm sure that everyone can make the descision for himself to make a donation!

Internet has become big because everything is free, and i think everything should stay free. but offcourse there is no problem if someone wants to make a donation!

bhoeyb, please indicate if you mean "per month" or "per year". I hope you didn't mean "per day"

I would be willing to donate some, I've had a great time on EBT(F) and I don't mind doing something back.

Isn't there a very profiting banner, just spend an afternoon and earn the money for a better hosting.

I have no problem with a free donation (20€/year) but would it help us out in the availability of the webmaster, or in maintaining the site, or in thinking big so the site would go in "autogrow" mode ...

If the site is down for 48 hours, and the webmaster does not even know ... then we have a problem, with or without donation...
Time is on our side ...

I also have no problem with a donation, but i think than the hosting and the financing stuff must be in hands of an organised group rather than one individual... (sort of VZW for the Belgians...)

Actually, I think if you advertised that all euro-cash donations would be entered into the system by the webmaster, many people would do it just to get a hit. I would!

I actually got my (only) hit that way... I got a generous donation and entered it (and moderated it...)

I'm ok with having an organization handle the money issue and sharing access to the site with trustworthy people (and there are some I know ) :)

  • - How would you spend the money you perhaps receive...?

    - And how can the donaters be sure that it will be used for the site and not for some delicious french wines...?

    - And most important how can the donaters give you the money. For myself i don't want to send it by mail. I feel much saver if i could put it on your bancaccount. Or perhaps on a separated eurobilltrackerfriends-account....?

Well that might be possible but I don't really mind sending it by mail. It isn't to hard to cover up there is money inside an envelope.

And I would get a real Eurobilltracker - Wouter Hit

The money would be spent on hosting the service (if we grow, we'll need a dedicated server and bandwidth one of these days... I don't know how long OVH will tolerate huge databases...

I suppose you are assuming I would be receiving the money ? If so...
I could list every donation I get and list every expenses. The money could easily be sent via snail mail, I've had that happened fine. I'd rather not my bank account cirulate on the internet :)
