serious problems with ebt on apples new safari

hi everybody,

today apple released the new version of the browser safari 4.0 and since it's release i can't insert bills at ebt because of this:

the cache is filled with data from my previous entries. this helped me e.g. for my common comments like "supermarket on elm street". since the release of the new version i can't change data of the bills, because if i start with the first letter of the printer code, safari use a previous entered printer code switches to the next tab with the serial number and there happens the same (if i enter the letter, a previous number is entered automatically and switches to the comments).

i know that this is a problem of apple and i can use firefox for entering my bills, too, but is there anyone else having this problem and is there help? apple-support-forum is no help because of many nerds that complain of your question instead of helping you.

Yes, it's indeed somewhat aggressive in filling the fields.. However, if you click on an automatically filled value, you can still edit it. Yes, it's a bit tedious that way. The problem may have something to do with the JavaScript that's used on those input forms.

Looks like the browser triggers the onBlur or onKeyUp event by these auto suggestions. Not sure what can be done about this from our side except disabling features depending on the browser id.

I wonder how long it takes for someone to use these serials, however they look kinda "pre-faked" by you

Looks annoying. thats why i use firefox

dear de-ker,

i use this presets for my comments. if i would like to fake there are easier ways than this and mabye i would have had more entered bills than 9800 in 3 years. firefox has the same presets like safari, that's why i have to use firefox for ebt now, although me preferred browser is safari. this safari-bug leads to comments like "you entered this bill already" by the system and this sucks like recriminations of guys that don't have a clue like you

you didn't really got the meaning of what i wrote did you? I was referring to that little clip AVIJ made, Where you can see some serials that "might" have been previously entered by him. Which could of course lead that those will be entered by a third party.
However when you take a close look to those serials they well kinda "made up" however the prefix and number-character combi is right.

To wrap this to an end, I know how those presets work and what your problem is with the new safari browser. The function Safari put in is obviously not made for EBT but more for username and password fields. I never ever said you are a faker cause i didn't have any reason to believe so, You are right that you would obviously entered more notes by now when you would have faked

Oh btw. This aggressive auto fill feature is a handy way to stop fakers from entering any (and thus false) notes haha

Oh good, I thought it was just me having this problem.
I just switch to Firefox when entering notes, and use Safari the rest of the time.

I switched this weekend from Microsoft to a iMac... i was very satisfied untill the last hour when I start entering a couple of bills :

I encounter precisely this problem with safari :

I start entering a short code "L026a1" and it automatically fills the box with a "L035c1" and switch to the box of "serial number" ; if I fill in a "X12345678910" it autmaticaly fills the box with "X987654321" entered previously...

What should I do ? I would like to avoid downloading a lot of software and wouldl like to use safari in the futre... thank you for the answer.

Not a lot of software but simply another browser for free such as Firefox

I disabled autocomplete for the serial & shortcode fields, looks like it fixed this particular problem.
