Hi all,

if you ever want to know, what notes are the "Suspicious or new combinations" in your NIG Trivia page, try this tool.
See the readme.txt for instructions.

If I understand you correctly, the program gives note-IDs for the suspicious and new combinations listed by (a now old version of) NIG?

no, it gives the value, short code and serial number like this:
unknown combination: 10 Euro note J005A5 N510xxxxxxxx (x'd to protect the innocent) ;)

and from my reading of the source code is current as to which combinations exist (e.g. :note-200: G/X :note-20: G/E), unlike NIG

Hello Marty!

Nice tool, it helped me finding some short code-typos in my EBT-data. :oops:

Two notes are still shown as "printer short code seems to be wrong", although they have valid value/serial/short code-combinations:
:note-20: G001xx / P025xxxxxxxx
:note-5: L024xx / U136xxxxxxxx

After debugging the tool with my own csv-file I found the problem: The atoi-function keeps on reading while there are numerical-characters, because there is no zero terminator ('\0').

This is my suggestion:

Another thing to mention: Maybe the size of 512 characters for the fgets-function is too small. As you can read in the API-description the comment's length can be up to 500 characters. And with the rest of the information in the csv-file it's easy to exceed 512 characters.

so, version 0.006 is out, now it checks for valid printer codes as listed in http://liste.eurobillets.free.fr/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the only code i added: r035 for X 50 Euro notes (I had this notes, but did not scaned it :( )

Latest version is 0.025, so Marty keeps improving his tools (EBT Notes Check, First Notes).

There's even a tool (HTML EBT Notes Check) that makes a html-file for easier correcting wrong entries.

I have to thank him, because with the help of his tools i got rid of some weird shortcodes and typos :wink:

Also I got rid of a typo (a clicko actually), so thanks for making and sharing!

Just note that where it says: "printer short code seems to be wrong", it actually means "something seems to be wrong". After a bit of research I found that in my case it was the denomination that I misclicked back then. But correcting notes that you don't own anymore is something that needs to be done with a lot of care anyway: before you know you lost the traces of a very special combi that exists for real!

Nice, the first notes list. I found that the list I created manually here does have mistakes. Going to work on correcting them. Done.

ImageIdea fore improvement: add a list for the first printer/country appearances regardless of value, or give them a special marking.


Results from ebtnotescheck:
0 unknown combinations, maybe 15 typing errors at the printer codes, 2490 notes total

Checking of notes took 0.016 seconds

Hi jrnsndrs,

hmm, good idea... Please save your output to a text file and append the things you would like to see (so I'm sure, that I understand correctly what you mean)
I will then check if it is possible to program it (I have only limited knowledge of programming)

I was talking about my own list there. I added a few new combinations that I am aware of, that's why I said mostly based on NIG.

I tried you program...

0 unknown combinations, maybe 154 typing errors at the printer codes, 75611 notes total

So, 0.2% have typos :D
