All Forums Marked Read - New Bug?
Today I visited the off-topic forum, 2 threads (avatar poll and jokeforum) were marked as having new contributions. I first went to the avatar poll and edited 1 of my posts. Then I clicked on the off-topic forum again, but the jokeforum was no longer marked as having new contributions. Then I clicked on "Forum Index" and all forums were marked as read.
I have experienced a similar situation after the forum transfer before. I use IE6-SP1. I would like to use the markings of new contributions as I could before the transfer. Can you fix this?

Well, if you close your browser and then reopen the forum, the topics are marked as read. Before I figured this out I thought someone else was reading "my" messages by using some public computer that I had used in the past. Changing the password didn't help, so I came to this conclusion.
But apart from that, I haven't seen that kind of problems. Anyone else?

It happened again. I opened the forum and found markings for new posts in 2 forums. I went to the first forum, read the new post and clicked on "forum index". Again, all forums were marked "read". I did not close the browser and I had the forum in only one window. In this particular window I only browsed pages of EBT forum.

Weird. When I came to the forum, there were unread messages in Forum feedback, Finnish discussion and Offtopic. I read your message from Forum feedback, clicked on Forum index and there were still unread messages in the Finnish discussion and Offtopic. So I'm unable to reproduce your problem.

I sometimes have the same problem. I've always put the blame on my bug-ridden wireless connection, which only works when it feels like it.Donald wrote:Today I visited the off-topic forum, 2 threads (avatar poll and jokeforum) were marked as having new contributions. I experienced it to
I posted on the forum,
shut down my computer
and when I restarted and took a look in the forum, the topic on which I replied on, and my post being the last reply was marked unread

This is different. If you restart, you only see the contributions since your last visit as marked.!Pretfles! wrote:I posted on the forum, shut down my computer and when I restarted and took a look in the forum, the topic on which I replied on, and my post being the last reply was marked unread
My prob is different: I loose all the "new" marking during one session - without interruption.
EDIT: I began my session today with "forum feedback", wrote this post. clicked on "forum index" and all the "new" markings in the other forums were gone.

Well, me too, and I'm not seeing those problems that Donald has. Some cookie problems again perhaps? Do you (Donald) see the "blocked cookies" icon when browsing, as pictured in another thread?Kamarenes wrote:Yes! There you go.Donald wrote:...I use IE6-SP1...
Edit: I meant this icon.

I just hope that you're not using the ebtforum.miuku.net address any more. Looks like phpBB doesn't like being accessed with two different addresses.Sneakster wrote:I have to log in twice, and after that I am unable to view the posts since my last visit

Today the new markings seem to stay. This is my first post in this session, I am curious what happens when I send this one. I tend to believe that sending posts destroys the "new" marks. I also changed the EBT Forum address in my "Favorites". And now it's time for "submit"...
EDIT: Today it is really better. I wrote one post and I edited another. Still the "new" marks stay. If it remains this way for the rest of the week, I'll call this case solved.

I thought nobody was using that address any more, at least not in their bookmarksDonald wrote:Now you're tellin'!
Yes, that makes sense. You were able to use ebtforum.miuku.net until you posted a message. After posting a message, the system redirects you back to the forum, and it uses the address forum.eurobilltracker.eu in that. So, from phpBB's perspective, you logged out of ebtforum.miuku.net and logged in to forum.eurobilltracker.eu, thus destroying the unread marks.Donald wrote:I tend to believe that sending posts destroys the "new" marks.
Well, live and learn.. I've now changed the way ebtforum.miuku.net behaves, it's no longer an alias to forum.eurobilltracker.eu but a permanent redirect to the forum.

I think I'm experiencing something related to this topic.
Whenever I click on the Eurobilltracker.com forum index I get logged out. I also notice that when I copy the URL of the index page (with the ?sid) and use that one I do not lose my login.

Do you use the forum.eurobilltracker.eu or some other address? Do you access the forum directly (by entering the address into address bar or by using a bookmark), or do you click on the Forum link on EBT?emmem wrote:Whenever I click on the Eurobilltracker.com forum index I get logged out.
