4 European countries have just become new members in the European Union, and 6 more will follow within an hour as the clock turns in the two timezones.

It is worth noticing that this happens in a democratic, peaceful way, by their own choice and not by foreign forceful actions.

I hope that both the old and new members will meet each others' expectations and work together to achieve a prosperous common future. Symbolically enough, it’s spring in Europe, and maybe it’s also spring for Europe.

I think those new member countries didn't "become European" but European Union became more European :!:

Now we have in the union also Hanseatic town of Tallinn; Vilnius, the city in the geographical central point of Europe and the old very, very European cultural cities of Krakow, Praga and Budapest.

A really essential part of European cultural heritage was missing until now.

Now we can see that all fears we had about the new EU-states weren't based on anything real :)
Happy one-year birthday, EU25 :)
