Is the place too small for BELGIE - BELGIQUE - BELGIEN?

Guess there would be enough space; see the German coin which has the full country name - and that is even longer than the three "Belgium" versions. Then again, this is exactly what this year's Belgian €2 commem (Women's Day) looks like: with the "BE", the mintmaster sign and the mintmark which, combined, look like four characters. And that is just as short or long as "Eire" on the Irish pieces ...

I agree that BE isn't a name of a country.........It should be in all the three national languages.

I will have the Spanish version of this coin available for swap. (Once issued, of course).

Is anyone interested in a swap for any other countries' version? I am specially interested on coins from Luxembourg, Malta and Finland.

Nah, but Andexlinger wanted to show that it is about much more than just one country - and repeating the map from the common side was not an option.

Then again, the Belgian circulation coins (2008-today) use the ISO country abbreviation "BE" too. The Braille (2009) and, as I mentioned, Women's Day (2011) €2 commems have "BE" as well. The two previous common issues (2007 and 2009) and the EU Presidency commem (2010) used the "three languages" variety.

Side note: Recent Belgian collector coins (gold and silver) do have the three versions of the country name. But when it comes to what the pieces are about, the mint often resorts to English. Not that much better methinks ...

I will have the German version, but that should be easy to get anyway. Luxembourg I am interested in as well, also because the center depicts both the euro symbol and the grand duke, depending on how you look at the piece.
