Notes that travel

Post by Drachenwald »

I have a question: Suppose that I take a trip from my home in Athens to, say, Paris, where I acquire some banknotes. I travel with these banknotes back to Athens. How are these banknotes to be entered? I mean, they have been to both Paris,France and Athens,Greece. If you go literally by the field descriptions in "Enter a new note" they should be entered as acquired in Paris, but since the site's objective is to track bills, it is more interesting to enter them at Athens - makes the diffusin display more interesting too.
How do people feel about that? What do you usually do?

The official policy denoted in the hints next to the boxes in the form asks users to list the place they obtain the bills

I consider that my note has been got in Paris. And I hope someone will register it soon in Greece, so I could have at last my firts hit! ;-)

I also would enter Paris, and in the comment tag I would mention: Will spend it in my homecountry Greece. If you get a hit, people will see both places show up in the list :)

Good idea!
I think there are not enough people who add a commentary (which is on my opinion one of the most interesting information!)

I always put something in the comment tag.

It varies, but mainly on of these:

- State of the note or particular things (pe number written on it)
- Place where I got it (bank, shop, chance...)

It's a pity that the comment tag is so small, otherwise I could write some more on it. At wheresgeorge, people write interesting and funny things on there...

I agree! I'd like to read the comments on the lists, also. Now, I have to click on every note if I want to read the comment...

How can I both make the note comment longer and allow the list to include the comment ?

I think this is the best thing to do! :P but the problem is when you, for instance make an inter-rail.. you get notes in many places, and you don't go to internet often.. and if we aren't sure of the place where we got the note, probably the best is to introduce the place where we're going to spend it..

You can have a list where notes with comments are tagged with an icon or something. It's what Where's George did, and I think it worked out pretty well.
May the Euro be with you.

I always enter the place were I ectualy enter the bill. (Ussualy at home).
I think it's a good idee to write something in the comment section.
I never really did it before but it's nice to read what has been done with your bill. I will do that from now.
But It seems to me that someone like de-jo won't do that. That would be a lot of work :P .

Travelling notes

Post by Sneakster »

I always list my notes in the place where I originally received them.
I try to make my entries as specific as possible, that is with the complete zipcode. However, I do agree that if you list them under your zipcode, it proves that this specific bill was in that town. Although the original idea is to enter your notes where they were obtained. :!:
