Upgrading to business class tips

Post by eurobillsandcoins »

Here, I will post my tips to getting upgraded from economy to business class. I do this very frequently.
1) Buy a full fare ticket, normally if the check in agent sees you paid full fare, they might upgrade you on asking
2) Dress nicely- Who wants a person in ripped jeans on business?
3) Never use sick excuses- This could be a disaster for you, as they would just say, sorry you're sick, do you need me to cancel your reservation?
4) Never ask directly- When arriving at check in counter, don't pop the question.
5) Be nice- Be nice to the check in agent, and at the end, ask them "are you upgrading any people? If so, I would like to be put on the waitlist"
6) Call the airline in advance- Ask to be put on a waitlist days before
7) Travelling alone- No airline breaks up travelling parties in different classes
8) Offer some cash- Ask if upgrade available for cash
9) Join their frequent flyer program
10) Ask at boarding gate
If any questions, please ask me.

I've been upgraded once, from a flight from Morocco to Brussels. But:
- we didn't ask, it was offered by a kind lady behind the desk
- we were a group of 3
- we don't look like a business traveler but birdwatchers
So we've been very lucky ??

But I have to be honest: it was a very nice experience to travel in business class :D !
