I'm not sure about Sunday (it's the last weekend of my holiday), but count me in for the other days.

You can put me under "will attend" now - holiday arrangements have been made; now I'll just have to find a hotel and plan my dothunting by train while travelling there

Ah, sorry to hear that. But understandable, that 60th bday is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. (The S-EBTM13 is also uniquehaemoglobin wrote:nope: unfort. wrong date. father-in-law will not be amused if i`ll miss his 60th birthday

Re: S-EBTM 2013 Rotterdam: Who will come and who will not
Regrettably quite a big MAYBE. The meeting falls in the time of summer vacation in our Bundesland of Hessen. So, family people have the first pick and of course, they have already picked. So, what would be left for me is leaving from the office to the airport and return home on sunday. (Normally, I prefer to spend more time at the destinations). To make things worse: There are no direct flights between Frankfurt and Rotterdam, which makes it rather unattractive to make a trip. Internet gives me travel times that make me wonder if I plan to travel to neighbouring country or to Australia or New Zealand.
But maybe I can find a solution.

Hehe, via LHR. Go to terminal 1 and you'll get €€€ too.
No, if you want to fly than take a flight to Schiphol and from there a direct train (2x hour 27 mins, less time than the direct bus from Rotterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central station) or with connection in Leiden (2x hour 57 mins) to Rotterdam.
That is also a tip for other travellers. If you don't have the luxury of a direct (or cheap) flight to Rotterdam, just go to Schiphol.

Thank you very much for the advice, MDeen. I did not know that it goes so fast from Schiphol to Rotterdam.

Ah, MDeen or the other organizers: Do we have to make reservations for the trains or busses between Schiphol and Rotterdam? And do you know where there is a timetable to find in the Internet?

No need to make reservations on either the train or bus. Just hop on.
The highspeed Fyra trains is normally more expensive. But because there are problems with the new generation trains it is at the moment without extra costs. How long this will last is uncertain. For the Fyra trains is no reservation needed.
Here is the routeplanner from the Dutch Railways
