Van der Valk seems to be busy with opening/buying hotels, because now I see 2 other possible hotels ("Ridderkerk" was the only one mentioned on the website http://www.rotterdam.info ).
There's also one in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and one "Plaswijck".

So, which of those 4 hotels are you staying?

Plaswijck closed down a few years ago; the only Van der Valk option in the city itself is Blijdorp, which is a pretty decent hotel. Ridderkerk is also nice, but not exactly 'round the corner; same goes for Nieuwerkerk.

I've got a PM: it's the nearest Van der Valk hotel: Rotterdam-Blijdorp.

I know it's 5 months until the meeting starts, but I wonder if there aren't booked any more hotels etc. ?

I wonder why no one ever mentions Airbnb, and Couchsurfing or HospitalityClub are so rarely mentioned. Airbnb's places to stay (private rooms or entire homes) are definitely worth a try. Nowadays, I don't travel any other way. I have done a search on Airbnb, for 2 nights (from 2 to 4 of August) for 1 person, and there seems to be enough offer in Rotterdam.

Booked at Hotel Rotterdam from 2nd till 5th August. Afterwards, I will spend 2 days in Amsterdam and will leave on Wednesday 7th.
