French food !
And the gastronomy of Hauts de France is one of the best one (under the Sud-Ouest one of course  )

the gastronomy of Hauts de France
I found really amazing the fact that a land without mountains is called "Hauts de Quelquechose"
If the Pas-de-Calais is the "Hauts de France", what are the "Basses"? The regions under the sea? 8O

In french "haut" and "bas" means:
-North and South (Haute Normandie, Basse Normandie, Haute Corse...)
or
-Upstream and Downstream (Bas Rhin (in North), Haut Rhin (in South  ))

What a beautiful language !

Yes, usually the North is in the upper part of the map, but many pedagogues advise against a systematic use of "up" = N and "down" = S in primary schools in oder to avoid confusion in the children that may think that North is actually upper than South, making the Rhine something unnatural (flowing from S to N) and the Rhône natural (flowing from N to S)

On the other hand, I noticed that names of the new French regions are really... interesting, sometimes creating something similar to colonies

Let's use a little bit of logic.

New York  a colony, the name comes from the old town of York, UK
New Zealand  a colony, the name comes from the old region of Zeeland, NL
Louvain-la-Neuve  someone came from the old town of Leuven, founding a new university
New Orleans  French people in America, also here something related with colonies
New Aquitaine  and where TF is the OLD one ?

But I am very off topic

This is not off topic. Another example from the Lille area:

Villeneuve d'Ascq : Ascq new town. This is the new town of Ascq created in 1970 from a gathering of several municipalities, including Ascq. When is Asq now? Same place with no official administrative status but great history. Same as with Aquitaine.

Good news
The 45th G7 summit will be held on August 24–26, 2019, in Biarritz, France.
we meet in Lille at the same time, just one thing the football match in ligue1 between Lille and Saint-Etienne is delayed from 25/08 to 28/08
so 50 000 people won't be in lille on sunday
