Although Bulgarian starter kits have been on sale since December, I have not news of any Bulgarian coins being used before 2026 in other states.

Yeah, Bulgaria is quite isolated in terms of being a euro country. The only other euro country they share a border with is Greece and I believe slipping across the border to a shop to spend their euros there is not as simple as in other parts of the eurozone.

The discovery of four Bulgarian coins in Italy (Milan) has been reported.

I have found my first Bulgarian euro coins in circulation in Vienna on 17.01.2026. I went on a "shop hunt" in a Bulgarian supermarket in Vienna - the cashier was kind enough to look through their till + coffee machine change for me, and indeed, they had some available which they exchanged with me.

Very interesting. In my area, there are no specifically Bulgarian supermarkets (Romanian only), but rather generic shops selling Eastern European products. I advise you to go back "on the hunt" with purchases , you can discover some very interesting products in these shops.

Yesterday I got some change at the store. It was my first Bulgarian coin from circulation.

Received my first 10 cent from a bakery in Petrer I guess this is one of these "fat strikes" and maybe the first one from Spain?
