EBTM06: Candidate organisers/cities

Post by Mr Euro »

Hey,

In this topic, you can volunteer to organise EBTM06. This topic will be closed end of december, so that in january we can (if necessary) filter out candidates and put them up for a vote in the Meetingforum.

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for organisers
  • * Two organisers or more. One will appointed as the main-organiser
    * The main organiser is at least 21 years old
    * The main-organiser should be able to communicate in English
    * At least one of the organisers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltrackermeeting
    * At least one of the organisers should live in or know the city very well where the event will take place
    * At least one of the organisers should have organised a national EBT-meeting
Requirements/conditions/guidelines for candidate-city
  • * The city should have a certain touristic appeal. International EBTM-participants will stay for more than one day. They should be able to see more things than they will see on the meetingday. (Touristic examples: Museums, touristic happenings or events, statues, old buildings/churches/castles or other touristic siteseeings, animal zoo, themeparc, concerts, boat or ferrytrips...)
    * The city should be located near an international airport.
    * The city should have a railroadstation, preferrable an international railroadstation
    * There should be youth-hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
    * There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near eachother which can handle some smaller groups.
    * The city has a national bank which can be visited by EBTM-participants or has some sort of euro-related place to visit (Examples: europarlement, money-museum, ... ). This will be considered as a bonus and not that important at all.
Remember this a checklist. If a candidate doesn't match any of these conditions, they still can be a candidate to organise an official international eurobilltrackersmeeting.
Still, the more requirements a candidate-organising team has, the more credibility the candidacy has.

Candidates place your candidacy here in this thread before end of december (31/12). If you do so, give us the name(s) of the organising team, the city you want to organise EBTM06 in and the dates that you can organise it. A detailed schedule of the event is not needed, the big lines are appreciated.

After having had many doubts, we - Giberski and I - have decided to step
forward. We are willing to organize EBTM06 in... Amsterdam! Let me explain
why Amsterdam is the place to organize it, and why we are the suitable
organizers.
Mr Euro wrote:* Two organisers or more. One will appointed as the main-organiser
Here we are, Giberski and Elmo!
Mr Euro wrote:* The main organiser is at least 21 years old
We both are more than 21 years old.
Mr Euro wrote:* The main-organiser should be able to communicate in English
We both can communicate in English.
Mr Euro wrote:* At least one of the organisers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltrackermeeting
We both have been in Helsinki at EBTM05.
Mr Euro wrote:* At least one of the organisers should live in or know the city very well where the event will take place
Our knowledge of Amsterdam is not very rich at the moment, but we are
going to solve that by visiting Amsterdam and reading many tourist guides about
Amsterdam.
Mr Euro wrote:* At least one of the organisers should have organised a national EBT-meeting
We organized already two national meetings (the 14th of May in Zwolle and
the 5th of November in Leiden).
Mr Euro wrote:* The city should have a certain touristic appeal.
Amsterdam has too many things to offer to mention here. For more info
see www.vvvamsterdam.nl
Mr Euro wrote:* The city should be located near an international airport.
Schiphol International Airport is the 4th largest airport in Europe.
Mr Euro wrote:* The city should have a railroadstation, preferrable an international railroadstation
Amsterdam CS is connected to Brussels, Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt.
Mr Euro wrote:* There should be youth-hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
There are quite many EBT'ers living at max. 1 hour travelling distance from
Amsterdam. And of course there are many other places to sleep, varying
from cheap youth-hostels to the **** Hilton Amsterdam hotel.
Mr Euro wrote:* There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near eachother which can handle some smaller groups.
This shoulnd't be a problem in finding a restaurant capable of handling a
large group.
Mr Euro wrote:* The city has a national bank which can be visited by EBTM-participants or has some sort of euro-related place to visit (Examples: europarlement, money-museum, ... ). This will be considered as a bonus and not that important at all.
Amsterdam has De Nederlandsche Bank (Dutch Central Bank), Haarlem
has Johan Enschede (the G-printer) and Utrecht has the Royal Dutch Mint.
Both Haarlem and Utrecht are quite close to Amsterdam.

Why not Milan?
There's a lot of interesting to see 4 culture.
Florence 300km,venice too.
Rome in 4,30 hours by train.
Bergamo, lago di como, lago maggiore, parma, pavia, verona, torino in less that 1hour of train...
Close to germany, france, austria and europe in general.
An international Hub for planes with cheap low costs flights.
An International train station connected with europe.
A good reason to meet EBTers from places not so known by EBT.
I can organize this meeting and I have already posted my will in the italian forum.

Well, one day left for candidate cities.

Amsterdam appears to be the only opportunity. Obviously, the organising team is on top !

But it would be fun to have some competition... So guys, come on and candidate !

@ Milanocapitale : if you want to candidate, you need to fulfill some requirements ; then to submit your candidature as Elmo and Giberski did for Amsterdam.

At least, this is what I read in the first post

I post MILANO as challenger city to the meeting.

I have had some feedback from the other users in the italian forum.
I think that the requirements of the city are all ok.
About me:I am not an old EBTer, I have never partecipated to a meeting(nobody in Italy i guess), BUT I organize events for my job, I am 28 and it'd be a guarantee.
I wait for other questions.

Hey y'all,

This is the post which many of you have been waiting for.

First I would like to thank the candidate organisers to place their City/Country as meetingspot for EBTM06.

After carefull examination, the meetingjury decided that only one candidacy was strong enough to go through as organiser for EBTM06. Due to the fact we only had two candidates, the next official international Eurobilltrackers meeting (EBTM06) will be held in .... Amsterdam in The Netherlands!

Hurray for Holland! :flag-nl:
