I got the same bill twice
I entered a 5 euro note the other day, then spent it at my company's restaurant.
I got it back today in my change while at lunch there, so the place where I first got it, and where I got it the second time, are about 9kms apart (and in different cities).
The system doesn't let me enter it a second time. Is there any way round this?
Best regards,
Bluephox

yes, you may write a mail to contact@eurobilltracker.com. i will not be a hit, but the comment will be changed...
It's completely normal to get your own notes after you have entered some notes. It's not anything special. I have found again over 1000 of my notes, including triple hits. Sometimes I bother to add some markings to comment field, if the location is completely different or a lot time has passed by, but normally I do nothing.

As far as I remember, the term was first used by emmem (in march 2003), and I guess it's an EBT invention. Where's George does not have a name for this kind of event (see their FAQ #16).

Here's an intriguing problem:

I had been given as change yesterday evening. I didn't spend it until lunch today. A few minutes later I payed something else on the same café and got the same note as change. I didn't notice it was the same note. Nothing uncommon until now.
Well, the thing is: I think it is the same note but I'm not 100% sure. The note I entered this morning was a X10...05, the note I entered now and have in front of me is a X10..95. All the other digits on the serial number are the same, and so is the short code. Intriguingly the system accepted both.
Is the "first" note a typo of mine or an incredible struck of luck?

When you got the first note in the same restaurant, it's quite possible.
The restaurant got the notes in a series (X10....05, X10....14, X10....23, X10....32, X10....41, X10....59, X10....68, X10....77, X10....86, X10....95, X10....04, X10....13 etc) and gave you yesterday the X10....05 note. After you came some more people where the restaurant gave the X10....14 until X10....86 notes. When you paid today you got the next note which was the X10....95. Taadaaahh !!
But when you got the X10....05 note somewhere else, it would be too coincidental to be true: then you would probabily mistyped yesterday.

eddydevries, thanks for the answer. However, my main doubt still remains: is it possible to have two serial numbers differing only on the last significative digit (X10..9c and X10..0c) yet the same check digit c? The series you give as an example doesn't have the same digits all the way to the end (if there's a X10..15 I don't think a X10..14 can happen -- in fact, that's exactly the doubt I have).

Actually, what do you mean with "check digit"? I thought only some digits in front of the serial number can have a meaning. All the other digits are significant? Or do I miss something?lmviterbo wrote:is it possible to have two serial numbers differing only on the last significative digit (X10..9c and X10..0c) yet the same check digit c
It can, but when it's in the same series, the nineth digit would be one different (for example X10..714 and X10..615 are in the same series).lmviterbo wrote:The series you give as an example doesn't have the same digits all the way to the end (if there's a X10..15 I don't think a X10..14 can happen)
I didn't mention it, because this was between 05 and 95.
