I can read finnish as good as Dutch, English, and any other language that uses the Latin alphabet.
But understanding is something different.... :D

I can also read Greek, and a little Japanese :)
Maybe someday I'll get the crazy idea to learn to read arabic or cyrillic :D

Well, I guess everyone in Finland understands English. But it's still nice to be sometimes able discuss about the stuff in Finnish, since it's still a bit easier.
And I did the translation for you: "Yritämme parhaamme" That's not exactly the meaning of those words (litterally it means: we try our best), but we say it that way in Finnish.

That's a good point. What a wonderful thing the latin alphabet is.

they look nice.
If they were really used, I think I would learn them!
I like being able to read all kind of writings, even if I don't understand anything.
It's always nice to read some Greek text, and everyone being like 'wow, that dude knows Greek !' :D

... as the saying goes: "Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum viditur".

(translation: Anything said in Latin sounds profound)

That's true.
I know only one Latin saying that is really true:
Cito enim arescit lacrima, praesertim in alienis malis.

Guesses? I'll be away for the weekend and I'm eager to see how fast you guys can figure it out.

Tears dry quickly, especially when they are for others' misfortunes.
