This guy probably hasn't been to Germany since 1994, because he uses the old 4 digit postcodes.

OK, that did it...
I got another hit !
Again from a serialist....
User brunorodriguez, registered today (06-10) and has already inserted 220 notes. And if you check the notes list, they are all consecutive.
Another one : EuroBillCracker
Also registered today, and already 200 notes registered.
Sigh, why don't we just ban them ? block their accounts, ban their IP adresses...
Maybe it's a good idea that when you register as a user on EBT, a confirmation URL is send to your email adress. And when you click it, your account gets activated.
That way, we can check valid email adresses, because I think a lot of these fakers just use email adresses who are not valid.
And, then we are sure we have their (correct) email adress, so we can contact them.
Because those fakers and serialists are ruining the whole idea, this way it isn't fun anymore

Yup, I agree, delete all the fake bills and ban / block / ban those people!

Exactly. I have 65 bills registered at EBT - almost nothing - because I don't do many financial transactions (especially with cash), I use the coins I have and I'm too lazy to do any of those bill-multiplying actions like getting money from an ATM, giving it bank to the bank and returning to the ATM.
30 of my bills (46%
!) have been marked as hits, all from Zounds in Vantaa/Finland, entered on July 11th or 29th.
Eleven or twelve more fake hits from Tommi.K in Vantaa have been moderated quickly.
Really annoying. I don't want to become a serialism victim.

I really like the idea, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's better to leave EBT...

We also have a new Donald from Geilenkirchen with 421 fake bills (or at least 420 fake bills).

It looks like the "Fake Note Gang" is changing tactics.
They are now using exsisting usernames and are entering fake notes that will generate a hit.
It is very easy to do this. Because there are only 3 X's displayed in the serial#, one only has to generate a list of 1000 bills to get a hit.
suspicious entries are
(user, date, number of notes)
Che Gevara 2002-09-27/28 1457
choukri 2002-10-02 640
brunorodriguez 2002-10-06 220
EuroBillCracker 2002-10-06 200
Skylimit 2002-10-06 880
Donald 2002-10-06 421
Total = 3818 notes (or 1% of all notes in the database).
So every 1 of of 100 notes in de database is fake.
And... Webmaster, why haven"t you deleted the Che Gevara entries????
This has been discussed in an earlier thread.

I have just changed the signin form to make sure every name is unique so this no longer happens... I'll try to see what I can do about changing names in the database so they are unique too...
>600 user names were jsut changed to make sure all names are unique. User ids were appended to repeated user names...

can't you make something like a confirmation mail ?
When you sign up, you have to give a email adress, but probably they are using fake email adresses aswell...
If you send an email to the adres given at sign up, and they have to click an URL in that mail, you are sure the email adress is valid.
Maybe that's another idea to get fakers demotivated...

I just did a database cleanup and deleted some bogus accounts.

One of my notes (P0x063569xxx) was hit by a serialist.
When I click on it, I get only my nickname...
But in my list of notes, it still has a (*) in front of the serial.

What happened to Che Gevara? Recently I saw some serious looking entries by him (no more consecutives). Do you have indications that his unbelievable Cuban entries are genuine?
