Had EurobillTracker already been contacted by Europe Police?
Tracing the code number of banknotes coming from delictuous activty is one of the numerous tasks of Police Dept.in EEC countries. It may exist cooperation at Brussels level.
What will be the position of EurobillTracker if asked one day to cooperate for a child kidnaping for example ?

What do you imagine such a cooperation to look like?
If the police or any other institution is paying a ransom to a kidnapper for example, it hardly matters where the money comes from (i.e. if it had been entered on EBT before). And of course everybody is welcome to enter any number of notes into the system. The police could do so and hope to find out where the money surfaces again. But what they could gain by contacting EBT and ask for special cooperation I do not understand. So maybe you could specify that.

Not for me if it helps fight or prevent crime.
In Canada, thanks to EBT, a robber could indeed be arrested. He had robbed a moneychanger who enters bills at EBT. All the bills he had already entered got a little mark.
When he was robbed by that gangster, he had to hand him over all his notes, among these the marked Euro-bills. When the robber had left, he had informed the police, the banks and the moneychanger in his surroundings, informing these parties about the marked bills. It did not take long and that gangster tried to exchange his Euros. Due to the scribblings on the notes the handcuffs were soon clicking...
Without EBT, the offender might have gotten away unpunished.
Yes, this is a little bit off the topic but it seems to be an example to me that with our database, there might be chances for police to track down criminals, and if used for that purpose, I would never mind if our information would be handed over to relevant authorities. They might find out about a special area such notes for a ransom might come from. This is not to discriminate single users but it might help police to focus on a special region.

Meine Angst, dass die Autokorrektur einmal etwas Obszönes ausspuckt, wichst täglich.
And even if it was true, the mere existance of EBT (if it really was the reason the guy marked his notes) would have caused the arrest, not some help the police got by searching the database.Dakkus wrote:Actually that story was a lie.Asiamaniac wrote:In Canada, thanks to EBT, a robber could indeed be arrested.
What can be done is try to find the notes to track the suspects. The kidnapping or other kind of extorsion example:
the criminals escape:
1- by plane: they are tracked at airport
2- by train: they can't buy tickets with credit card or marked money
3- by car: they can't buy gas (again card and money traceable)
if they escape using other money:
1-they stay in europe: they can't exchange the money in banks because we have trackers there, if they start spending it soon the region where they are will be known.
2-they go to a far country, with so many cooperating exchange offices they can't exchange their money to local and again it's useless.
solution to all this:
underground money exchange for unmarked bills.

However, I do find it interesting, how naive people are on the forum. The good old saying "I saw it on the Internet so it MUST be true" suits to this legend so well it's almost scary.

another possible contibution of EBT to catch a bankrobber could be as followed: imagine, the bankrobber would be an EBT-addicted and put all his notes into the database. the bank has registered the notes, i.e. new bills.
the question is, if EBT has the duty to pass on the identity. but i suppose yes. naturally, this would be a quite silly idea, but maybe...
great publicity for EBT, thousands of new users!!!

I wonder if some of the users here might actually rob a bank if they ran out of money of their own.![]()
