Tesco Ireland

Post by q098 »

Some of you already know those self check in machines in Tesco Ireland. I found that those machines does not accept 50 € notes with Trichet signature. I discussed the crew in the store and they were agree that it is up the signature.

A really strange thing. Does anyone of you have similar experience.

When I do shopping, I use the most of the times the self check machine.
Most of the times I use a € 50.00 note. I have never had problems with it.

I did not check if the signature was Trichet. Next time a gone use a Trichet € 50.00 note. I let You know if I have some problems with it

Strange - never noticed that myself!
You would think with a big company like Tesco they wouldn't allow such a simple mistake to happen! Very unprofessional
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Unfortunelly it is so.

Maybe I should provide more specific information of that machine:

The machine is located in Tesco Roselawn in Blanchardstown and it is the first Self Checkout machine with belt from door.

I am agree with you about that big markets like Tesco would not allow such a misstake happen. Maybe it is only this machine.

Thats why I asked if anybody of you have similar experience about that.

I am fairly positive I have used a Trichet there before. I always use the self-check outs and I'm sure I must have paid with a T €50.
I've never had problems with the money not being accepted...

When I visited Ireland, I paid with a note which was in by far the worst condition I've ever seen. One of the self-service checkout machines of Tesco in Sligo accepted the note without any problems. 8O

Seriously, it was almost torn apart, had no "tension" left at all and the color was starting to fade. I showed it to my friend and when the machine accepted it, we couldn't believe our eyes.

And I am fairly positive that every time when I am trying to pay with 50 € Tritchet in Tesco Roselawn in self check that machine does not accept that note.

Every time when the symption appears the note is brand new.

Today I paid with € 50.-- trichet and it was not excepted. The ladies told me that there was a problem with the software. They told me that the machine had trouble with the new (trichet) biljets that started with an X

This was the self check out where you should hang your bag in the hanger, not the self check out with the rolling band (I don't know how you call that)
I think there are two different readers. When I have an € 50.-- trichet with a X I try the other self check out

That's right, every time when I experiend problems, the note was brand new and the serial number began with letter X.

The crew in Tesco only told me that problem was related to signature (Tritchet), but we who track Euros in Ireland also know that we have a distribution of brand new 50 € notes with Tritchet signature and the serial number begins with letter X.

However, I am happy to know that I am not alone with this symption. Now we have found an issue regarding 50€ notes, with Tritchet signature which serial number begins with X. Quite funny but the self check out machines looks the same in Superquinn, but so far I haven't experience any kind of problems.

I must try it with a Z Trichet next time - wonder if that will work? Would be very odd if only X Trichets didn't work!

I guess it's actually about the printer and not about the country code. Maybe P or G does the notes slightly differently by some aspect?

Yesterday I'll tried the Reader from the self check out of "the rolling band"
with a Trichet X note and I had no problems.
