Zip Codes
I don't really travel that much around Finland, but when I do. I always face the problem of not knowing the zip code for the place I visit, so I usually end up inserting most of my notes in Turku except when I can easily get the rel zip code. And this bothers me, because then ther zip is not correct and the stats are'nt either.
I wanted to ask how accurately do you insert the zip code, do yuo, for example, change the zip when moving inside the same city/town, or just when moving out of your hometown or even country.

I enter notes at 2 different locations (school and home). at home I use the standard zip-code 7943CD. at my school I use 2 different zip-codes when i know I got the notes in my home town (Meppel I use the standard. when i got the notes in the town of my school (Leeuwarden) I use the zip-code of their post-office 8901BV

I just go to google, and enter "postnummer <location>" for Belgian towns
There are always hundreds of hits ... which display addresses
From this you can determine the zip code very fast ...
In your case, replace "postnummer" with the finnish word for zip-code
It cannot be hard to find a complete list of zipcodes on the net, for Finland.
There was a thread about it once where lots of users gave links to these pages for their country. [thread about airports]

I try to enter the correct zip code. I use a catalogue of Finnish zip codes.
I look the street address and then it's zip code. It is easy for me, because I don't travel much.
Maybe this site is useful. http://www.posti.fi/postinumeroluettelo/
For example write the street name (kadunnimi).

I wrote down all the notes during my holiday in Marina di Grosseto.
Had a hard time finding all the zip-codes back in the Netherlands.
But it has been rewarding:
I'm number 7 on the Italian top users ist

I found that it helps to ask for receipts, because often they print the zip of the shop where you get change on their receipts.
In October, I received 7 notes from different shops in the Roermond factory outlet center and I only entered the 4 digits "6041", because the individual shops probably had different letters in their codes. A Dutch friend once told me that there were even different post codes within the building he lived in. So I only take care of districts of a city, which means for the Netherlands only the figures, not the letters.

the consensus is that you enter the place where you got the note ...
[the notes you take with you are registered in your hometown ... since you will travel they will be spent, and you have a chance they become an international hit]
the logic is, if you register a note, how do you know where you will spend it ? usually you don't, but you do know where it came from ...

Actually this is not entirely true. I know Brussels has different postal codes (1000, 1005, 1020, ...).bhoeyb wrote:I'm happy to live in Belguim: only 1 postcode for 1 town, not for every street.
Anyway a useful link for Belgian zip codes can be found here
in Portugal the zip codes were recently updated, from a 4 digits zip code (generally one per city, except for big cities like Lisbon or Porto), we changed to a 4+3 digits zip code, being that the 3 new digits refer to a specific street or area inside the city, I must say I never put this part of the code, because I only know the one of my adress.. in fact my house has two zips, one for the front street an another one for the street in the right side..
so I only use the 4 digit version, and even that is confusing, because now there are new 4digit zips for Porto, and many times I'm not sure if the zip I use is the correct to that part of the town.. but it's close enough I gues..

I've only entered the numbers. I don't want to be tracked down to the street I live in: Let me have some privacy, pleaseDonald wrote:So I only take care of districts of a city, which means for the Netherlands only the figures, not the letters.
