Eurovision song contest

Post by Olivier »

A funny question... :)

The next contest will take place on may 25th, in Tallinn (Estonia).
Of course, France will lose, like every year and for 20 years! :)

It's great eccentric kitsch. It's a brilliant laugh (especially if you've had a few to drink!). I like the new telephone voting element ... though it is unfair how the scandinavians vote for one another no matter how rubbish the songs are!

France tends to deserve its "nil points" .. I remember it had a great title one year, "Où aller?" .. lovely!

Actually, I never remember the songs of the previous years... I couldn't tell you who represented France the years before...

Most of the time, the singers are not known before the contest... and are not also after.

anyway, I like this eurokitsh celebration. :)

Don't like it, sorry! Almost unknown singers, music for old people (nothing to be surprised of, it took inspiration from Italian Festival di Sanremo  )
I prefer MTV Europe Music Awards (though it's mainly commercial stuff)

I remember that song :P was great, the singer name, a black girl, was Marie-Line! Lovely "Je na pas ou aller..."

the new telephone vote is very unfair, the scandinavians exchange points with each other, and since then France allways gives the max pontuation to Portugal   some times the only points we get are the 12 from France

it's a unique show, very kitch is true, but I really like it, this year Portugal is going to be absent..

 and I tottaly disagree with the rule that every country can sing in english..

probably that's why portugal isn't there this year, in the last one was one of the 2 or 3 countries that didn't sing in english  where's the european diversity???

Maybe Scandinavians just like each others sings =) Hehe.. Finns are so bad they loose every time.

And if you're complaining about scandinavia (ok, Finland doesn't belong to scandinavia as one swede told me) just watch Greece and Cyprus ;)

That band of Greece... OH MY GOD! Check this link for a pic:

G.E.S.T.A.P.O. :D LOL :D

And the sad thing is that they even got more points than Finland. BTW why the heck the contest was partly presented in French? And when France gave their vote, they spoke only French while every other countries gave their votes in English. I'm so sick of that language policy of French people :x

Well.. the presidents of this contest are all from ... Switzerland!

Anyway, the kind of songs of this contest is too... "eurovision". A sort of an institution which becomes a bit dusty.

Diversity, my friend, diversity... I would like a lot more if the songs and presentings were in the countries' languages...

that was the charm of eurovision.... only latin countries sing in their language.. why is that? do latins love and care more about their languages then northern people? :?: :?: :?:

I think it is just this time, every one are wanting to sing in english. At least many people understand it better. I am sometimes surprised when I see the translated lyrics of some songs and what the words mean.

I don't really like the contest either. It's all just voting for countries you like, not giving a damn about the songs. I think the jury should come back and give points as well as the TV viewers.
I usually just watch it to dis the ridiculous clothes some artists wear. Especially Spain seems to be quite good at this. Nothing personal to the Spanish, but you guys just can't dress your artists quite properly...
May the Euro be with you.
