If you start "Whatpulse", there's a icon in the statusbar "W".
If you rightclick on that icon, you get a menu with "Settings" and if you move the mouse to it, it shows a little menu with "Program Settings".
Personally I filled in 'every 250 keys' and 'every 250 clicks' (this means: more often the pulse).

Thanks! I didn't know "W" is an icon. Now, when I changed settings, icon became a green ball (it's not "W" anymore). And I'm not on the team list yet. Maybe because I didn't pulse yet. How do I do that?

The green ball means: it's pulsing at that moment.

Or it's trying to pulse: sometimes pulsing isn't possible, because he can't find the website.
If that's so (most times just after starting the computer: than Whatpulse tries to pulse before the computer had made it's connection) there's a dialog-box (if it's not visible, you can find it with "ALT+TAB"), click on "OK" and Whatpulse will try to pulse again.

You can pulse anytime you want: if you double-click on the icon, Whatpulse will pulse the keys/clicks you made until then.
