A month ago, I entered some 50 euro notes (4 or 5) with a green "A3" circle stamp in one side (the one with the serial number). The thing is that I took the notes from an ATM all together but they are not from the same country.

Plz, I beg some one for a hit with these notes...

Not a green Ä3". I found a note with a blue"B1'

You can find your answer in FAQ section of EBT's website

It is legal (see http://www.eurobilltracker.eu/faq/?command=4096;tab=3#1 ).

However, it should be taken into account that in several states the notes will be immediately withdrawn from circulation if they have any markings on them. For example Finland is a very bad place for marking your notes, as that'll be an immediate death sentence for them. However, in the south, for example in Italy (and also in Ireland), the notes are always in such a horrible condition that marking them won't be decreasing their lifespan too much.

So, as for legality, stamping is ok. In some areas it might decrease your hitchances instead of increasing them. In EBT it's generally thought that each user may do the decision by himself. Stamping is not especially recommended, but no one has anything against it, either. If you feel like doing so, then do so.

My opinion is that once you put a note into EBT it's just as if you have marked it - why then mark, sign or stamp on notes at all?

Advertising EBT. Euro Bills are one of the better way to advertise EBT itself...

I once used to write something on notes - but then stopped it 'cause I never saw another 'marked' note. Maybe I should start again?

btw: As studiing fees were established in Germany some students stamped their notes with stickers saying "Fees are non-social" and things (sure Text was german). So maybe You saw one of these notes?
These Stickers had measures of about 1cm * 4cm - had black scripture on a white background an a black box to surround the sticker....
One Currency, one Union, one Eurobilltracker...
My dots are of the same order as 10.

I don't see a problem

Post by Ticonderoga »

I'm surprised at the apprehension some of you have towards scribbling on notes - even in the tougher countries like Finland and Germany. So what if the note gets taken out of circulation? If it gets 4 hits before it does, what's the problem? They all come out of circulation anyways.

Anyhow, if your note, stamp, or scribble is discreet, most bank staff won't even see it anyways. Most notes are briefly looked at. A banker handling thousands of notes isn't going to check each one for stamps or notes.

And even if they did search every stamp, if everyone stamped/noted their bills, eventually it would become more "common" and less bills would be pulled as a result.
This the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
