:flag-es: Grecia = :flag-uk: Greece = :flag-gr: ELLADA

I got 600 euros (300 coins) from a bank last summer to search through.
Er... How does it work?

When I go to a bank, they always say me that there are not bags or rolls... WHY!? How does people get those?

I have 3 of them at home.

Strangely enough, I have to take back part of what I said yesterday. Today I found the first coin from Luxemburg in ciruclation. It was a 5c.

Also, dad found me a 2007 TOR from Netherlands today :D

tell them that you have a shop and you need them as change to customers. I would try and avoid coins though, if you want foreign coins.

yes, I think that bank people assume you have a shoppe or are working at a bar/ cafè that you need the coins for change.
I have seldom had difficulties, although some banks keep very little amounts of coin for customers.
I worked as a barman at a d.j. bar here last summer, and the owner never had any change in the drawer. It made giving change for drinks and coffee difficult to say the least, so every couple of days, I would go to the bank and get bags of 2€, 1€ and .50 cent coins to keep in my tip jar, and then make some change if, say someone tried to pay a small bill with a 20 or 50 note.

Coins that run through my fingers here in Hamburg feel like:

83.8% German
4% Dutch
4% Spanish
3% Austrian
3% French
1% Italian
1% Belgian
0.1% Finnish
0.1% Portuguese, Greek, Luxemburgish and Irish combined
0.0% Slovenian, Cypriot, Maltese

At the DEXIA-bank in my town, no problem to receive rolls at all.
Otherwise, when you bring back a lot of coins to the bank, you have to pay extra for counting.

the other day I took 125 pieces of 2 € from a local bank to search through. Unfortunately I did not record any useful numbers, but I did find a few interesting coins. I found only 6 CC coins this time. (all Italy: 04x2, 05x2, 06x2). I did find 4 interesting coins mixed in: Italy Dante 2006, Belgium 2006, Ireland 2004, and Austria 2004

hardest to find coins

Post by thejay »

Since the start of euro-coins in 2002 I'm still looking for:

€ 2 :flag-pt:
1, 2 and 5 cents :flag-ie:

and of course
1, 2 and 5 cents :flag-fi:

So these are my hardest to find ones, I probably should go on a holiday there sometime :)

I can agree with these coins here.... it took me a very long time to find certain coins. Portugal 2€ took forever, and so did one and two cents Ireland and Finland (I had to trade for them) but for some reason I have found four or five 5 cent Finland.... strange
