Some people believe it is an "unspoken truth" that there are captured extraterrestrians in Area 51. I don't know how much it is worth to believe in unspoken truths. Did the Americans somehow make clear that they are upset about the currency switch?

None of the arguements the Americans gave to invade Iraq has any relevance. I think they are even childisch. How could they ever believe that anyone would swollow this ? The reason : they just don't care.

This war is about Oil. How to control it, and how to control it's price.
Of course they will never tell in public : hey, you know what, we are here to seize the Oil ... :?

They can't start their war... It's very difficult for them, with the Frenches, the Russians...
Tony Blair was hardly criticised yesterday night, on TV. :o

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Paul Wolfowitz have been lobbying for war against Iraq at least since 1998. (Iraq sold oil for euros after year 2000. So probably it is not the main reason why they want war.)

Here is an article about their opinions in 1998.
I have also seen a TV document about this.
This letter was sent to President Clinton.
The only acceptable strategy is one that eliminates the possibility that Iraq will be able to use or threaten to use weapons of mass destruction. In the near term, this means a willingness to undertake military action as diplomacy is clearly failing. In the long term, it means removing Saddam Hussein and his regime from power. That now needs to become the aim of American foreign policy.
Another letter was sent to to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senate Republican Majority Leader Trent Lott.

The switch to the euro was the straw that broke the camels back. Because they did it, and profitted from it, others are itching to do it too. Iran, Libya, and Venezuela want off the dollar standard and have been pushing for OPEC to accept euros.

The US wants to set an example to the euro wannabees by attacking Iraq and switching their accounts back to dollars. Watch and see!

The US has made no official stance, but I bet in secret, the US is behind the UK not being in the euro. I feel Tony Blair is only paying lip service to Brussells. He knows that any reforendum will turn up a majority of British saying no. Tony can tell Brussells he tried, but was defeated

I feel the US is funding the no campaign in Britain. They are feeding the British a bunch of negative propaganda to keep them out. British entry would make the euro stronger even yet, and essential wipe out dollar hegemony.

I believe the US wants Britain to remain in the EU. While in the EU, Britain can be a force to sabotage many plans to strengthen the EU. Britain should be given an ultimatum by Brussells. If you want to stay in the EU, you must adopt the euro, and give them a cut off date. If they refuse, they should be booted out.

Yes, it is all about having the control of the oil.
Iraqi Oil Strategy Divides State, White House
The Wolfowitz hawks argue that Iraqi oil -- the second-largest reserves in the World -- could be a godsend for the United States. Supervision of it could help Washington shape U.S. and global energy prices, act as a counterweight to Saudi Arabia's dominant influence in the oil markets and erode the power of the Arab-led Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Bush-administration sources say that Powell and Franks favor a continuation of the U.N.'s oil-for-food program following Saddam's removal. The program, which allows Iraq to use its oil revenues to buy humanitarian goods, could be used to hold production down and allow nondisruptive phased-in increases over years.
I wonder if the post-war Iraq will be a member of OPEC?

The media owned by Rupert Murdoch play a great role in the opposition to the adoption of the euro in UK. The people just know what their media tell them, and the natural position is to keep what they had before, whe UK was a great power in the world.

The USA don't help the UK with this strategy, because the United Kingdom does its major part of his trade with the rest of Europe. Adopting the euro would be better for the entire british economy, and for the City which loses more and more its influence whereas Frankfurt gains some.

It would not be fair for the UK that the EU demands it to adopt the euro or quit the Union. After all, Sweden and Denmark take their time also. But I am convinced that their situation will appear totally absurd as soon as Denmark, Sweden and the 10 new members will adopt the euro (from now to 2007).

The UK is obliged to choose between the USA and the EU. Its interest are not in America...

As you say, the day the UK adopts the euro would mean the end of the Dollar hegemony.

I also saw a documentary on Paul Wolfowitz' new doctrine, that was not accepted by father Bush, and certainly not with Clinton ... the preemtive strike thing and stuff ... It is probably true that Iraq would have been invaded sooner (before euro-time) with a republican gouvernment during the Clinton era. Therefore the Euro-theory may be somewhat simplistic, but nonetheless a newly introduced element, which helped. There are so many other "good" reasons to invade Iraq ...

for instance, and this is chocking ... I got it from a Financial newspaper (Fin. Ec. Tijd)
5 American Companies are competing to get a 900 million dollar contract that involves the rebuilding of Iraq. Bush and his vice-Dick will first bomb Iraq to the stoneage, and then American Companies will rebuild it with tax payers money. Among the five, is the company Halliburton, of which the vice-president Dick Cheneys has been the CEO for a few years (in between father and son Bush) This is really the most sickening thing I have read since a long time.

Now that the war is finished, you will NOT believe what I heard on the news today ...

The US are planning to use the DOLLAR as the official currency in Iraq ...

This is like a bad horror movie ...

If Britain agrees on that, yes, expel !

Yep, when i heard that, it was like a "what the f*ck are they doing"-idea went around my mind. And i must say, during the last months, i regularly get these kind of ideas popping up

I'm curious to see if at the end of all the events planned by the US-government, we will have less terrorism in the world. I would like to know what people in the Middle-East think about all this. I heard that the fall of the regime in Bagdad, was already seen by lots of Arabic countries as a defeat.
