We could try fixing the situation by asking some foreigner to represent us. Celine Dion represented Switzerland in 1988, and won the contest. As far as I can tell, Celine wasn't born in Switzerland, so what's stopping us Finns getting some famous singer to represent us this time?

I don't think this would work. The people who vote to choose the song wouldn't accept a foreigner to represent Finland. Or that's what I think they are mostly old and probably conservative as well

I don't even know which canditate Belgium sends ... They always send a very stupid song, and if they send something worth listening to, they never get any votes ...

Last year, we had Sergio ... I liked that song, and the backing vocals were really superb, but we had a very disappointing result ... as always.
Time is on our side ...

What about a representative of the Swedish minority? Sweden has won the contest four times so far.

Just for curiosity - has there ever been a gay winner of the Grand Prix d"Eurovision?

PS:Dana International, from Israel (a country that shouldn't be in the EURO contest.. in my opinion) is transexual and wan the contest..(in great part because of that  )

Well, this year "we" are going to win with the song "Sanomi"! Belgium has resolved the language problem (French or Dutch) by using an invented language in its song. And Skylimit, have you really missed the news about the group Urban Trad and especially its original lead singer who was claimed to have connections to the extreme right wing party and had to be replaced?

Here's a sample of the lyrics:
Sanomi Helé
Manilla Keranu
Aliya Irema Nia Lago
Ture Madilé

I don't know... I don't remember the name of the winners...
I know there were some gay candidates, but that's all.

Also because she went to present her song in most of the european countries. The song was not "new" but already a hit...

In the Netherlands was also someone who was gay and tried to go for the Netherlands to the EuroviseonSong Contest, he (Gordon) didn't won.

I dind't know that..
When was it.

I don't really follow the Euroviseon Song Contest, I like the voting more, with all those points, I never vote, It costs a lot of money (I mean it's much more than a normal phonecall)

Not all people have a tipical name from their country.

I just remembered now, Portugal sent once a lesbian singer, Dina.. but that wasn't never an issue, because she's very discrete, everybody knows she is, but nobody talks about it.. it's her private life anyway..

but of corse she didn't win.. somewhere between 0 and 15 points, the usual portuguese result lol
