Chop marks
These are called "chop marks" and often entered in other countries once the vailidity of a bill has been established.
I'm surprised that there is such apprehension here to stamp bills. If done discreetly they will probably go unnoticed by bankers and would increase hits a thousandfold. Also, if everyone stamped their bills, it would be more accepted - even by the stingy bankers.

This the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Re: Chop marks
Actually the check's done by large parts by a machine. And it will notice writing from any part of the note if it's been programmed to.Ticonderoga wrote:These are called "chop marks" and often entered in other countries once the vailidity of a bill has been established.

However, there are also many notes that manage to avoid such machines for a very long time. Maybe, if we figured a VERY discreet way of stamping notes, it could indeed work out well enough.. It's just that such stamps cost money..
Then about those chop marks.. I could imagine they cause more insecurity than security. If a workshop can fake a banknote, it can for sure also fake the stamp. And if the banks trust the stamps too much, they actually only make it /easier/ to fake notes!

OK, I don't stamp, I scribble - half the URL's I have put on notes are probably not even legible...
Edit: I just noticed that the greek Hitpartner registered to EBT in 2006 already, obviously he found the url'd note finally worth entering.
Not much hope he might become an active user though. :-/
The stamp on Debemaks' dollar is really cool, somehow the dollar provides so many more nicer spots to place a decent stamp...

It seems a "t" with a dicrific sign (a line "-") in the middle Ŧ - ŧ, like the Maltese Ħ - ħ , it should come from the internationalization of arabic, where there are 3 sound for T (ط ت ث ) (from right to left Teth, Tah e Thah)
