Hmmm. The Colbert Report closing tune just ended, let's see what the magic iPod says...
It's a Pet Shop Boys concert broadcast by the BBC in May 2006. I believe it's the concert that gave us the Fundamental album. 1 hour and 26 minutes long, not the average iPod track.
Jes, that violin part isn't even The Verve's, it's a sample of a Rolling Stones track (The Last Time) and they had to pay its writers (Mick Jagger and Keith Richards) for the use of it. (Similarly one of my favourites, Rufus Wainwright, had to pay the heirs of Ravel for the use of the Bolero on Oh What A World.)
