I think that Mr. Gerstetter has somewhat lost the point (or not been aware of the point) in his new series, compared to Mr. Kalina's first series.

Interesting point of viewCraft wrote:BTW, I don't like the arch on the newHBoZ wrote:For those who can't wait to compare notes![]()
, it is architecturally wrong. On the first series note the arch "grows" from the top of the columns, which is correct. On the new series note however, the arch is extended onto the wall, which is not correct, and therefore the arch is huuuge compared to the doorway. The arch therefore now consists of a lot of unnecessary semicircles, whereas on the first series note the arch only consist of the necessary semicircles but not more.

Hard to tell. Yes, in Romanesque architecture the size of the arch is usually determined by the distance between the columns on the left and right. Then again, Kalina did pretty much the same, except that his "extension" of the arch is much more abstract. What I like about Gerstetter's variation is that he added the tower and the apse. Is the redesigned note better? Nah. Worse? I don't think so either ...

Re: "Europa": 2nd series of euro banknotes
Kalina's extension of the arch seems to be only plain wall, which is typical in Romanescue buildings. The upper edge is round shaped, true, but that seems to me only a part of the note's general graphic design (there are several round elements all around the arch). Gerstetter has now changed the wall to a definite arch. What I mean is that Gerstetter may have mistakenly interpreted Kalina's graphic representation of surrounding wall as extension of the arch.tabbs wrote:Then again, Kalina did pretty much the same, except that his "extension" of the arch is much more abstract. Gerstetter's designs make the images on the notes (arches and bridges) to seem like miniatures or toy models, little objects. Kalina's images are more like technical drawings, but they don't appear toy models. They are lighter than Gerstetter's versions.
The tower and the apse are good additions, I agree.
Re: "Europa": 2nd series of euro banknotes
Two and a half weeks now, although I suppose that it will take more than that to get hold of the first new tenner here... The introduction of the new fiver was quite slow in Finland, if my memory serves me right.
And I think there will be people who are not willing to accept the new tenners at first, thinking that the bills cannot be genuine money. Many people will not have heard of the new version from any media.
The €20 bill is my favourite (theme, colour) in the eurobill series. It will be interesting to see how it will be redesigned. If the schedule is similar to the one with fivers and tenners, it will not take many more months until the new twenty is unveiled. Probably in January.

Yesterday, I was at the German Federal Bank in Frankfurt am Main and there they said, that they'll give out the new
from September 23rd. I'll probably go there a day later (Sep. 24th) to see, whether I can get some
.

Was it a real note? Or some oversized poster?
Re: "Europa": 2nd series of euro banknotes
Was the serialnumber visible? I am very interested, if they changed the way of encoding the positioninfo into the serialnumber.Elmo wrote:I was at the National Bank of Belgium in Liège today and they had Greek Europaon display:
