Hi, in most BRED branches ("BRED Banque Populaire", but not "Banque Populaire Rives de Paris"), you can get 2x :note-5: bills from the indoor ATM but no more that two at a time, but you can make as many withdrawals as you want.
Correction, at least at BRED in Soissons you get many many more :note-5: !

70 EUR: 1 :note-10: + 12 :note-5:
80 EUR: 1 :note-10: + 14 :note-5:
90 EUR: 1 :note-10: + 16 :note-5:
120 EUR: 2 :note-10: + 20 :note-5:
200 EUR: 1 :note-20: + 2 :note-10: + 34 :note-5:

You can only enter a multiple of 10 Euro, entering 75 gave a warning and was not accepted.

On Saturday, I tried this with the ATM at BRED-Banque Populaire, Rue Saint-Antoine in Paris. The two ATMs outside only had :note-20: and :note-50:, but the one inside (reachable during office hours, which apparently include Saturdays) gave 16x :note-5: and 1x :note-10: when I chose to withdraw 90 euros. The ATM went out of service after four consecutive withdrawals... Unfortunately, all I got were UNC Y009 fivers.

HI Guy's,

Thank you for sharing this information. I will check if this works with other branches with a French credit card from a different French bank. Indeed with your German card you could be granted more access to options in ATM in comparison to other French cardholders.

I'll let you know.

I was in Brussels recently and went to an ATM to get some notes and it just blew my mind that you could simply select what kinds of bills you want and in what quantity, so for example if you want 20€ you could just get 4x :note-5: instead of :note-20: 🤯
that's like so much more advanced compared to what we have in Finland, until quite recently you couldn't even get :note-10: from an ATM (only :note-20:& :note-50: ) and being able to get :note-5: while also selecting the quantity sounds like something from another universe 😭

and yet there are way more hits in Finland than in Belgium :?

Not all ATMs have :note-5: on offer, but those that have are great, and we aren't grateful enough for them.

Bonjour!

I'm currently on holiday in the surroundings of Bordeaux :D :flag-fr:

What are the best ATM:s to withdraw from with an non-french VISA-card (though European, Danish)? Are there some that are free or with a very small fee?

Looking forward to hear from you! Merci!

In France the bank's ATMs are totaly free. If you have a non-Euro bank account maybe you will pay a fee from your bank.

Merci Kleman!

Yeah, Denmark doesn't use the euro but we're luckily still part of the EU 8)

But I'll then look forward to try one of them! My aunt lives in here, so Bordeaux is the French stronghold for my family :D Unfortunately I don't speak French, but maybe one day.

Would you recommend any specific brand of bank?

Hello,

I'd like to ask a few questions about Luxemburg.....
My brother wants to go there on Sunday and since he supports me and my hobby, he might withdraw some notes for me.

I've read either in this section or in the Dutch speaking part, that some (?)/all (?) ING ATMs in the country give 50 :note-5: per transaction. What I'd like to know is how to recognise these ATMs? Are they a certain type of ATM (e.g. brand, withdrawals only or withdrawal/deposit machines)?
If he finds one, how can you choose the notes? Is there an option right at the beginning that says "choice of notes" (or something similar) or do you have to enter an amount and then be able to choose?
As he wouldn't like to spend much time for this, the only option for this would be the ING branch at Luxemburg Station. Is there anyone who can confirm that you can receive :note-5: over there?

Sorry GWR7007 but there are no longer ATM's in ING Banks in :flag-lu: . By train, from Luxembourg city, it's possible to go to :flag-be: Arlon (Bpost and CASH BATOPIN ATM's) or :flag-be: Athus (CASH BATOPIN ATM'S) to have :note-5: (and also :note-10: in Athus).

Sorry, but going to :flag-be: isn't an option .
He's going there for a record fair and the plan is to get into Luxemburg by train, visit the fair and then go back. So anything bank-wise that isn't close to the Central Station or the location where the fair takes place is out of reach unfortunately (including the city centre of Luxemburg; at least this time). And while he is willed to support me and my hobby, making long trips in the "wrong" direction is nothing I can ask from him.
Should you or someone else know a bank in Luxemburg where you can get :note-5: (or other notes but then at least a free choice of notes), any hint is very welcome

Merci beaucoup AECH !
For my first visit to Vatican City after so many (too many) years, i must admit that I have been very lucky.
When I was there, i remarked thousands pilgrims from Croatia, so perhaps that's why this banknote came from nearby italian city Trieste.
One of them perhaps brought this banknote to Vatican without knowing it.

I just came back from France and the thing I loved the most there is that you can pay with cash on self checkouts, like you just enter the right amount of money to get a banknote in exchange without interacting with anyone 🥰

man I wish we had this in Finland, here all self checkouts are card only and if you want to pay in cash you have to go to a cashier 😬
I frequently try to buy things for :note-5: and pay with a :note-20: or :note-50: to then get bills in return and it's kinda challenging because I can get things for like 5-6€ max (if you're giving the cashier a :note-20: and then coins so you can get :note-5: :note-10: in return) but with a machine you could just get any amount and then throw coins until you are left with €5 and then enter a banknote

I also got many coins from the new series and apparently those are already common? in Finland I've never seen a single new French coin before even tho it's already been several years since they were introduced :? (but I think that the older ones look much nicer, especially the 10-20-50 c ones)

Hello perepelita,
perepelita wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2026 9:00 amI also got many coins from the new series and apparently those are already common? in Finland I've never seen a single new French coin before even tho it's already been several years since they were introduced :? The new cents coins (10c, 20c and 50c) are actually not that old, they have been introduced in 2024. And their presence is uncommon in day-to-day exchanges.

The 2€ coins are also not that common, they were minted in 2022 and I get more German coins than new french ones.

As for the elusive 1€, it was supposedly minted in 2022 also. But to this day I never had one.
My opinion is there was a lot of old french 1€ coins in stock and they are currently releasing those first.

My two cents,
Jazzdream :)
