This time it's me who came across a really strange printer code.

First of all I have to admit that I do have my favourite serial numbers. One of them is :note-50: starting with PC.

Normally they all have P009 as their printer code. Now I received a note which has :note-50: P005E3/PC0408.

All the other :note-50: P005 notes start with PB...

Does anyone have a explanation for that?

Hi !!
P005 , P006, P007 and P008 all of them PC are very rare serial numbers. The print run was very short in all those cases.
Keep the note .

New plate :flag-fr: :note-20: received* in Lisbon :flag-pt: :D

U054I4 / UR524

*I changed for it with my aunt that lives in France, around Bordeaux, and she hasn't withdrawn money while down here.. So technically it came from France, presumably from Bordeaux, and not Portugal, but which one is the correct one - Nevertheless - Happy New Year 2026!

This is a great story, even better if paired with my own:

A week ago, I announced on another forum frequently visited by g.s.51 (Guy Sohier, the author of the euro banknotes catalogue) that I had found this note in Portugal (yes, a U054 :note-20:, see below). It was actually a fresh new banknote in a pair, that I withdrawn from a CRM (cash recycling machine) — so some client had deposited them there earlier. I actually saved those two, but not the other one I found yesterday in a different CRM. They're from sheets 7400 numbers apart.

So, either:
  1. someone coming from France brought a huge amount of these, and deposited them in more than one machine (unlikely but not impossible, since I live in a neighborhood full of French people), or;
  2. they've been released simultaneously in France and Portugal (seemingly unlikely but far from unheard of), or finally;
  3. Tárrega's aunt did get this note in Portugal (maybe as exchange).

Cool Imviterbo! That really is an interesting story :D I believe most in the possibilities a) and b). My aunt came to Denmark to see my grandma for two days before heading to Portugal together with my family, so she hasn't been taking out money in Denmark (that would be stupid as she doesn't have a Danish bank account and of course has withdrawn the money at home in France, but it still ain't certain..) and she hasn't been paying with cash in Portugal with anything larger than a :note-20:, and that doesn't give back a :note-20:.. So almost certainly she has got them fresh from an ATM somewhere close to Bordeaux. What amazing detective work! :)
