Ok, the term was not correct, but with these programs someone can follow where I am browsing in Internet. Anyway, the point is that Philippe gets paid for spreading them, although the website claims to be non-profit.

Erm, as far as I know, there's no money involved regarding these cookies.

That's not actually true. The cookies are there for some unknown future purpose. Possibly to help advertising, yes. But as long as there are no ads on the site, Philippe isn't getting any money from anybody.
Philippe's idea was that EBT should have ads in order to provide money to him. He also promised Avij and Nerzhul that they could have a share of that to help them accept the idea, but those two rejected the offer.

It is currently not tactically a very good idea for Philippe putting the ads there, so I figure it will take from half a year to two years that the situation's calmed down enough that he can do it.
However, as a meeting is now going to take place, there is a good possibility the sites will be one again. That would mean the cancellation of the advertisement idea in the original form of the idea.
The advertisements might come later on to the reunified EBT, but with a different profit sharing: Everything for EBT, nothing for individual people.

So, most likely no site will get advertisements for at least a while.
What's most important is that Philippe did his thing because he wanted money. Aside him being quite selfish in that situation, he is a nice person and probably wouldn't take the money for sending spyware to his servants' computers. If he ever gets money from EBT, he will do it through normal advertisements only. He might have behaved very badly and dishonestly, but he is far from being Satan.

Those whatever cookies were probably harmless but still they had a purpose which was not just for supporting of using the website. If a re-unification will take place, I expect Philippe to apologise his behaviour. He put the site to serve his own financial purposes, without any warning in advance. Furthermore, I don't see how I could trust on him as a webmaster after all this. He seems to be too impulsive to play an important role in a such international community as EBT is. He has already shown that if others don't agree with him, he anyway does what he likes ignoring other people's opinions.

In my opinion, you can't understand fully this crisis if you neglect this aspect of things. People do have national identities which might, in some circumstances, explain partially some ways of reacting, and which can puzzle foreigners.
An example is Dakkus' references to the "czar", I'm not sure non-Finnish people understand anything at that. I suppose it's related to Finnish history, wasn't Finland a part of Russia in the past which fought against the czar for independence ?
I'm not pretending it's JUST a matter of national identities, but that it plays a role in the crisis, and can help in understanding it.

I don't believe that we are facing a problem of nationalities right now. There may be differences in the reaction to the problem that differ from some cultural background to the other ; but the issue is not a "North against South" problem.

If some people on the forum wants to think it is a cultural problem, then I sincerely believe they are not correct and I refer back to the netetiquette that says :"It is not allowed to post cheats, warez, software cracks, advertisements, pornography, insults or racism towards any individual, group or nationality. "

I personaly do not want to be linked to any of the protagonists because of my cultural background.

The current problem is mainly a problem of persons and it should be handle this way. This is what we are trying to resolve.

You are right, it's not national problem its more a problem between to be a EBT-User (<1.000 notes) or EBT-Lover (>1.000 notes) or EBT-Maniac (>10.000 notes). With each stage you get more addicted to the site. Ok, he takes over the .COM-site, because he coudn't work together with avij and nerzhul, but he gives us no look-out or no warranty how the site will developed in the future - so its not astonishing thats the most of the top-users reacted so angry when Giro makes the attack to our hobby.

All in all with the viewpoint i understood Giro a little bit, because beside he is the founder of this site he is just a normal User with about 500 notes. Perhaps he coudn't imagine how we EBT-manics worry about his action against avij and nerzhul, who were responsible the last years for the development (and for this reason to the success) of OUR site.

i don't know if some of you play the online-soccer-manager hattrick.org. they have a nice supporter feature where you pay around 20 € a year to modify your teamsite (logos, team-colours, etc.) and get better statistics. it's still a free game but with the supporter feature you get a nice bonus. maybe you can have a look on this site and "steal" some ideas for the non-profit-organization.

furthermore they open their site-code to partnersites for better statistics and manager-tools that can be used by the users for free or in some cases you have to pay for it.

it's important to keep tracking free of costs, but for statistic-nerds like me, it would be ok to pay a little amount for some better statistics.

i also support the merchandising idea. i suggest to produce it in one country and send it from there to the buyer otherwise logistics would be to ineffective. if you sell a shirt for e.g. 20 € the price of the shirt and the shipment to any european country will be affordable and the organization will earn some euros from that.

another idea would be to invite users to a graphic-contest for merchandise.

The merchandising it`s a good idea, as well it`s a good idea opening a "contest" for it´s design. And i believe that after things cleared up and after launching that "contest" images of the merchandise will be available to vote (like in the avatar topic). The winners in each category will be produced.
For distribuition i believe that the the orders should be made to each country forum moderators and they will place the international order and tranfer the money. The main point should be making some money and not a lot of money.

You're right ...
But Ergo in the following post too ...
I don't think Giro,Aviij or someoneelse is or can be a dictator imposing his point of view to all the people in community. I don't think too that one of them want to make money with EBT. Paid Hosting, futher development may be. But for they, as for us, EBT is an hobby and they probably accept this bohhy has a cost.Thier point of view on this aspect was different and they today both ask the paternity of EBT. That's all.
It esay to understand they want to be recognize for the job they have done, the idea they had have but all they have done is nothing compare to time spend by the community to enter notes.
If you enter 10 notes per years, you probably not ready to spend as money, as time as someone who enter 1000 or more notes by years. But both are member of the community with the same interest for the community.
It's why it's important for the team organized for the 3 january to make they understand that they at first have responsabilties regarding the community before having power or soemthing else.

For distribution, take a look at my shop at shirt city: http://ajaxrotterdam.shirtcity.com/, it can be delivered in several country's because in every country's there's a shirtmaking-machine.
There is also the possibility to create caps,key-cords, teddybears, even a wallet.

I totally agree with the fact it's not the main problem.
Phaseolus wrote:but the issue is not a "North against South" problem.
It certainly isn't.

If this is directed at me, 1)you're totally free to disagree 2)I don't understand your point. You mean talking about cultural differences should be banned like cheating or posting porn ?
As stated above, I don't pretend that it's the main problem, I was just, in a way, exploring its complexity.
Phaseolus wrote:I personaly do not want to be linked to any of the protagonists because of my cultural background.
What do you mean ?
Phaseolus wrote:The current problem is mainly a problem of persons and it should be handle this way. This is what we are trying to resolve.
I fully agree on that.
