Thank you very much. I think my mum would be very happy with them.

Are there already plans regarding meeting places and times in Helsinki? I would like a lot to orientate my arrangements to that. In Brussels it was great; only seven minutes walk from my hotel to the main station.

Can anybody give a summary about the plannings up to now´? I want to finalize my own ones.

Kiitos a lot in advance.

It's just a bit more than a month before the meeting.
I think it's a good idea to make the planning.
(What are we going to do on which days)

Yes, I know :)
But actually I was thinking of a "final planning".

Hi, this is a quick update to tell you we're progressing in our plans for EBTM05.

Although we're not going to release all the details yet (they're still subject to some changes), here's the general schedule for the weekend:

Friday 19.8.2005
  • Arrival to Helsinki.
  • You're supposed to check in to your place of stay (hotel, hostel, another EBTer) during the morning or afternoon.
  • Depending on when you arrive to Helsinki, you may have a few hours to explore Helsinki by yourself before the actual meeting starts.
  • We'll meet at the Helsinki railway station at 18:00. Some of the organizers will probably be there about half an hour earlier than that, the goal is to have all the people present at 18:00 so that we can start our tour around Helsinki at that time.
  • We'll have something to eat and drink during the evening
Saturday 20.8.2005
  • The actual meeting day.
  • We'll meet at the same place as on Friday at 10:00 with the same arrangements as on Friday, ie. some of the organizers will be there in advance.
  • During the day we'll visit most of the tourist attractions in central Helsinki. One of the attractions is Suomenlinna, a fortress island off the coast of Helsinki. We'll probably have lunch there. We'll also visit the Bank of Finland Museum.
  • We'll have a dinner in a traditional Finnish restaurant in the evening.
Sunday 21.8.2005
  • The fill-in-the-blanks day.
  • This day is reserved for exploring Helsinki by yourself according to your own interests.
  • We'll try to arrange some activity groups so that like-minded people could travel together to their places of interest. More information about this will be published later on.
Unfortunately we had to drop the sauna from our plans because it didn't quite fit our schedules. If there's sufficient interest, one of the activity groups for Sunday might include a sauna, though.

At this point I'd like to start collecting some information from the participants. We'll probably have some sort of name tags in use at least for a while, and if you'd like to have your real name printed on it (in addition to your EBT nickname), we'd prefer to have that information in advance. Of course we'll have the possibility to make ex tempore name tags, but having the name printed properly in advance will make the tag somewhat prettier. First name is probably sufficient for our needs. Giving this information isn't mandatory, feel free to make your own choices about this. This information should be PM'ed to me, I'll maintain the list and prepare the name tags.

Another thing which I'd like to know are your mobile phone numbers if you have them. I'm planning to have two separate phone books -- one that is used by the organizers and another which is shared among all EBTM participants. The organizer's phone book can be used if someone unexpectedly doesn't show up at the designated meeting place. Having the phone number enables us to call the person and ask what his/her situation is. If you don't mind your phone number given out to the other participants, you can have your phone number added to the semi-public list of phone numbers. This list will be distributed to the EBTM participants. Please PM me your phone number and specify whether the phone number is private or public so that it'll be placed on the correct list.

One more last thing -- if you follow some kind of a strict diet (vegetarian, no tomatoes or something along those lines), it may be helpful for us to know about that in advance.

edit: Corrected the time for the initial meet on Friday -- it's indeed 18:00.

Program looks superbe!

To all joining us at EBTM05. Remember, this is not a "let's-make-hits-meeting". Therefor please bring only fivers to the meeting. If you receive money during EBTM05 even if it's not from an EBT-member, write down EBTM05 in the commentfield. This will ease the work for the hitmoderators and let's us enjoy to see if there within certain period after the meeting there will be real "meetinghits"

To summarize  EBTM05 in commentfield of the bills you spend or receive on EBTM05.

Looking forward to it!!

Pretty sure there will be. I also had one with happyfew2 who found one of my notes a few weeks after EBTM04.

Hope I can make my arrangements now. The meeting is drawing nearer and the conditions in our company and, in that line, the acceptance of holidays, cause me headaches.

What luck! I will get a little leave and now I am waiting for the offers from my travel-agent. And very much more I am waiting now for EBTM05 to begin... :D

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but as in EBTM04, we'll need to collect some money from the participants to cover some of the costs of the meeting. It's likely that the sum is around 20e, I hope this doesn't ruin your travel budget.

If you have sent me your phone number, I'll PM you the phone book web address tonight. There will likely be changes to the phone book even after this date, but the address will remain the same. This way you'll be able to get the newest list when you need it.

The Pave the Earth movement hasn't reached Suomenlinna yet, so it's suggested to have comfortable shoes with you on Saturday. High-heeled shoes in particular may not be the optimal choice..
