S-EBTM 2012 Post your candidacy here!

Post by claudio vda »

Hello, it is November again and it is time again to start thinking about the Summer EBT Meeting of next year.

In this topic, you can volunteer to organize Summer EBT Meeting 2012. This topic will be closed on 15 December, so the BoD can start to discuss about the candidates in the last days of the year.

Due to the fact that the Winter EBT meeting 2012 will be held on 27-28-29 April 2012 (better call it Spring than Winter  ) , the BoD wants to avoid a Summer Meeting too early and it put a time restriction for it.
The period for the Summer Meeting will be from July to September, with the suggestion of August.

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for organizers

* Two organizers or more. One will be appointed as the main organizer
* The main organizer is at least 21 years old
* The main organizer should be able to communicate in English
* At least one of the organizers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltracker meeting
* At least one of the organizers should live in or know the city where the event will take place very well
* At least one of the organizers should have organized a national EBT meeting

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for candidate city

* The city should have a certain touristic appeal. International EBTM participants will stay for more than one day and they should be able to see more things than they will see on the meeting day.
* The city should be located near an international airport.
* The city should have a railroad station, preferable an international railroad station
* There should be youth hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
* There should be a location big enough to host the General Assembly of the Association
* There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near each other which can handle some smaller groups.

Remember this a checklist. If a candidate doesn't match all of these conditions, they still can be a candidate to organize an official international eurobilltracker meeting.
Still, the more requirements a candidate-organizing team has, the more credibility the candidacy has.

Candidates place your candidacy here in this thread before 15th December If you do so, give us the name(s) of the organizing team, the city you want to organize Summer EBTM11 in and the dates that you can organize it; a detailed schedule of the event is not needed, the big lines are appreciated.

Please, keep this thread for candidates only!

Come on! I don't want to believe that it was easier to discover an extra-solar planet similar to the Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler-22b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that organize an EBT meeting! :(

Dear fellow tracker colleagues,

I'm proud to present you the candidacy of Image Munich / München, capital of Bavaria, for the Summer-EBTM 2012. :D

Organizers would be MasterZocker, MuenzMuc, Euro~Bräu and me.

We know which way the wind blows, as I already visited several international meetings (and MuenzMuc one), we organized a not-so-small meeting on 06 Jan 2010, and MasterZocker is the deputy director of a hotel. Although I'm not living in Munich I know the city VERY well.

A possible programme would be some sort of a 'special' guided city tour, bavarian-style lunch and dinner in e.g. the famous Hofbräuhaus or in a beer garden, a boat trip on one of the bavarian lakes Chiemsee, Tegernsee, Starnberger See or Ammersee with the possibility to get some extra dots, and many more things to do.

A room for the General Assembly can be provided, too.

The many bank branches are quite tracker-friendly, and I assert they are more tracker-friendly than in other German cities ;)

Munich is easily reachable by air (one of the largest airports in Europe), ICE-train and road. There is a large number of hotels and hostels in all price categories.

Suitable dates of the meeting would be one of the 4 weekends around the Saturdays 25 August, or 01 / 08 / 15 September, as the "Winter"-EBTM in Frankfurt is at the end of April, the Oktoberfest starts on 22 September (the city will be extremely crowded from that day on) and weather conditions should be according to experience best in that period (there are often some thunderstorm periods until mid-August).

And yes, many of you will state 'Wow, both international meetings 2012 should be in Germany?'
I'm wondering about the same, but better than nothing, there's still no other candidacy. I love travelling, so feel free to post an own candidacy, there are still 2 days left!
