Hqppy new year everyone! It’ll be a special one for euro coin enthousiasts with no less than three new national series being introduced. One entirely new eurozone member (Bulgaria) and two countries changing their national sides to the portraits of their new heads of state (Luxemburg and Vatican City).

Erm, when Pope Francis died and Pope Leo XIV was elected?

Those are not official coincards released by Vatican City, but unofficial aftermarket ones produced by a company called Eurosymbols, which packages coins from rolls they buy in their own coincards. Since the new design of the Vatican City coins has not yet been released, let alone the rolls of 50 cents coins, they’ll either sell those coincards with 2025 coins in them or just put a picture of the old coin there as a placeholder. Vatican has suffered delays with their nusmatic releases since late last year to the point that they still have to issue their three announced 2€ CC’s from 2025.
