Well, you should read the book. It was the only compulsory reading I enjoyed at high school... (and don't tell me I should like the Lusíadas, because I don't :?)

I'm reading Boris Vian for a college assignment (although I was one the one who suggested the author to the professor :P), namely L'Écume des Jours and L'Automne à Pekin. I had already read both of them in Portuguese translations (and loved them) and they're much harder in French.

I've also recently finished America: The Book, which is very fun if you're into American politics. It was also my first Amazon purchase :D (as it is not available in Portugal).

I prefered "Os Maias".

Now I'm reading "Memórias das minhas putas tristes" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, very good :). (Sorry I don't know the original spanish name).

I always thought that it had a plot more suitable for a Mexican soap than for a literary masterwork, but this is just my opinion :P

"Memoria de mis putas tristes". ;) I've been wanting to read it for some time now, as I've heard very good things of it. Although I must say, that, by Garcia Marquez, I've only read "One Hundred Years of Solitude" - and I found it a tad boring...
