It is changing! Look at the demonstrations in London!
The British share very deep values with the rest of Europe: against the death penalt, for Kyoto, against the antipersonal mines...

The US arrogance will make the British feel more European than ever.
Well, maybe I was a little too hard. UK shouldn't really be expelled. :)

BossaNova wrote:the fact is that UK was never in EU with an european spirit, never opened it self to Europe, they always wait to see if the "economical part" of the projects turns ok, so then they'll join to that.. only for economical reasons.. they're just too closed to USA.. they never "married" us.. only some ocasional "flirts", that give them economical advantages.. I'm speaking specially about England (people and politicians), I know that in Scotland there's a real and growing European feeling...
I agree with this. UK doesn't have to pay as much for the membership as they should (thanks to Margaret Thatcher!). If they want to get equal benefits of EU they should participate to the costs correspondingly or leave the Union. I don't care so much if UK is in euro or not. It's their own decision.

Sure, I know. But that was when I was very young. Something like until 1993?
That's why I wondered why you still called him a european leader.

I quit Matignon in 1992.
He's no more a "leader", but he is still very active in the European Parlement.

French socialist party needs a new generation, anyway.
