That's another price increase that I didn't know about!
But it would appear that I can send a letter for the same price anywhere in Europe and the Mediterranean area: France _ Bulgaria _ Algeria all the same price..... strange....
Anyway, maybe that explains why my mum says the mail from Italy takes a long time to reach her!
I tried to go to the post office to post my xmas cards and they put on it by default 0,62 stamps 'cause they said that ordinary os not allowed from italy to abroad. The question is:why the english version of the website is not up to date?

I only send cards within Europe (for postcrossing )and next year they will be 65 ct (instead of 45ct, which is the cost of a card inside Germany as well) As I've run out of stamps at the moment I went to the postoffice today. And guess what: There are no 65ct stamps on sale, not even 20ct stamps to combine with a 45ct stamp can be bought at the counter, so starting next year I can use now this ugly stamps from the vending machine. Typical Germany!
The only nice thing was that I put a 2€ coin into the machine and the stupid thing issued 11 stamps as I noticed back home. I will try that again, 10% profit is not too bad after all!!

Why, oh why can't we have a pan-European stamp like we have the euro? Often when I visit a foreign country during the weekend, it would be nice to send postcards, but while cards are easy to find, stamps aren't. I just don't want to waste hours searching for a post office which happens to be open - it would be so much easier if I could buy them before travelling anywhere.

Hmm, I like the different stamps of Europe. And in many small shops you can find stamps, even if they're just ordinary stamps. In Italy, all tobacchonists have them, in Belgium, many newspaper shops, and in many hotels, they have stamps, too. Only if you want special stamps, you have to visit the post office...
groentje wrote:Thanks for the link, but with the 800 ITL stamps, I could reach Belgium as well... And as they say Italy and abroad, I believe 45 ct is enough to send now, too.
in date 24 dec 05 I have sent to groentje in belgium 2 cards, one with 0,62 international priority(correct) and one with 0,45 stamp(maybe not allowed 4 abroad)...we'll see
