38ºC ??????
That's really like hell!
I hope it's not that warm when I go to Italy in the first week of August for holiday. In Italy are also hell-temperatures sometimes.

Amareleja 43ºC!!!
the hottest district capital was Setúbal with 42ºC...
ps: Lisbon the hottest capital in Europe, with 38ºC...
Those temperatures are too hot for me.
(Although these are temperatures of a cold sauna. I can use the downstairs sauna and it is too hot there. The thermometer shows + 80 °C. )

cool site, these are the portuguese records:
PORTUGAL
Lisbon -1 43
Los Riodades 50.5
Braganca -12
the problem is that i don't have a clue where is "Los Riodades", and the name doesn't sound portuguese...

What part of Italy do you go? If you stay in the north of Italy temperatures
are usually 25-30, but if you go to Tuscany, it can be more than 40° C at
that time! I went there in August 3 years ago, and every day the sun
'burnt' me and my parents out of the tent at 8:30! Every day it was about
40° C, and fortunately there was a swimming pool at the camping...

In countryside there is sauna in every house and in towns almost in all one-family houses too. I live in an old block of flats and there is a sauna in basement floor and I can use it once a week for 10 €/month. In the new blocks of flats there usually is sauna in every apartment. I hope in future I can move to a aparment like that too.
Many Finns own summer cottages with sauna near lake, river or sea. It is very relaxing to go to sauna and swim in the lake. Especially tonight when it is the midsummer eve.
Edit The weather tonight (at midsummer eve) is perfect in Lapland. (+19 °C and sunny)

I don't excactly know what the name of the town/city is where is go to in August, but is't between Pisa and Firenze.
One thing I'm going to is going to the Tower of Pisa, maybe I'll even climb to the top if it's not too busy there, and when it's not too expensive.
I hope it wouldn't be that warm when I'm in Italy.
Ok it's 12 o'clock and my thermometer is at an astonishing 38ºC!! And it's on the shade (or shadow? I've just awaken and my english is kinda stuck...). I think I'll go to the beach this afternoon. Maybe the water is below the 25º C mark, and if so, I might be able to refresh in the sea...
