1656, from Fr. cravate, from Cravate "Croatian," from Ger. Krabate, from Serbo-Croat Hrvat "a Croat," from O.Slav. Churvatinu "Croat," lit. "mountaineer, highlander," from churva "mountain." Cravats came into fashion 1650s in imitation of linen scarves worn by Croatian mercenaries in the French army in the Thirty Years War.
Great.Another ignorant person.Tell me, how did you concluded, that Croats were "gang of robbers"?
O, BTW, ther is no Serbo-Croat language.Another minus for you. Those are two different languages.
BTW2, here is a little info for you:

U are a cowboy!I like your energy!
(look at my posts about europe and u'll see why I like your energy but u cannot say that someone is "ignorant" in this way, u don't know people there and to be identityless there is nog a good excuse to fight with people attacking them with bad words).

I can say that because it is true. How would you feel, if I said that Milano is in Greece? If you wouldn't write me that, you would probably think that.
Am I right?
I hate when people talk about something, about what they have no clue.

Cowboy, I respect u and I say u are true, see my topics about politics and respect for my people of northern Italy and u'll understand more that I agree with u at 100%.But I say that maybe people can take as excuse your hard way to write for not replying or not reading your posts.
If someone is convinced about something he has to go on with no fear but he has to keep in his mind that the result is the most imprtant thing and to act as u did u forget it.

She didn't. And neither did the one who originally mentioned the phrase "gang of Croatian robbers". That does NOT mean all Croatians were robbers. That only means that the robbers who wore ties were Croatian.
There sure were robbers in Croatia just as well as there were (and are) robbers in Germany or Finland. But that doesn't mean all Croatians, Germans or Finns are robbers. There's always a small amount of slimebags in every country. Everyone must be allowed to speak about them, because if you like cencoring them away, they will get a lot more power because of people not knowing to avoid them.

OK, once more.
I didn't even meant that she said that!I'm not talking about generalising, I'm talking about, that people who had ties WERE NOT GANG OF ROBBERS!THEY WERE MERCENARIES!
Why didn't you read whole text from link I gave her/him?You come in middle of discussion, deus ex machina, but you don't know what am I talking about?
