3 notes with sequential serial numbers

Post by barclay »

Yesterday I withdraw some money from an ATM, and out came 3 brand new EUR 50 bills with incremental serial number :)

Has anyone have had that too?

In the beginning we had this frequently, now we see this once is a while with people who work at a bank. Mainly 50 bills

2 weeks ago I had a sequence of 6 consecutive 50 € notes, and there was a jump in the short code, it jumped from R020C2 to R017C2.

That's interesting, it's not that common that the short code changes during consecutive serial numbers.

Consecutive serial numbers themselves aren't that rare, although they aren't as common now as they have been in the past. Just two weeks ago I entered 50 5€ notes that had consecutive serial numbers, they were received from the bank by our company. Of course people working in banks see consecutive serial numbers all the time, there are always some new notes put into circulation.

 Maybe not, but it seems to be 'normal', I had it too (I thought in 2002).

I think the press plate/cylinder was too much worn out, so it had to be
replaced. That could explain the jump. These jumps are less common
