Yesterday I withdraw some money from an ATM, and out came 3 brand new EUR 50 bills with incremental serial number

Consecutive serial numbers themselves aren't that rare, although they aren't as common now as they have been in the past. Just two weeks ago I entered 50 5€ notes that had consecutive serial numbers, they were received from the bank by our company. Of course people working in banks see consecutive serial numbers all the time, there are always some new notes put into circulation.

replaced. That could explain the jump. These jumps are less common
