Changing comments

Post by ElBarto »

I think that the comments are one of the most interesting things about hits in EBT. That you know where the user has found the note and where it went afterwards so you have more information about it's voyage than just the dots on the map. So I think that you should be able to change the comments for a longer period of time than 48 hours. I can't think about any misuse that could happen because of that. In the moment it's possible to change/add comments via email but this is a lot of work for the team and I don't want to bother them with every change I'd like to make.

I agree with you of the importance of the comments. However I don't think that comments should be changed much later. People easily forget or confuse things so it could lead to inaccurate comments. (The comment says that the note was spend in place A when in fact it was spend at place B).

Well, i do agree on changing comments for a longer time, because in the beginning I was entering many notes from my mothers work (library) but never take any notice at the commentfield, but the hits I get the last times are mostly from that library, but I can't add that comment anymore. It would be nice if I could do that still, so that the hitpartners have some idea where the notes have been.

Cases such as yours are quite rare.
You may send a mail to support@eurobilltracker.com and just ask us to correct the comments. It can be done with copy&paste, so it really isn't much trouble.

I don't think you want to be copying/pasting for more then a 1000 notes.

I'm in a somewhat similar predicament and have been recommended to send batches of about 20 notes to have their comments changed. When they've been changed (usually inside one to three days) I send the next. I don't have that many notes to change (there's about 300 left I need to have changed), but this takes time. At first I thought, what unnecessarily tedious work, but by now I do think it's a good thing that one can't change lots of note comments arbitrarily...

At wheresgeorge.com you can change the comments as you like and whenever you like and it seems to be no problem there.
I would appreciate this possibility at EBT, too because I really like to fix the spending information within the comment but on one hand I don't want to wait with the entry until I release the note and on the other I don't want to bother the team with a daily mail
If I spend the note within the 48 hours it's no problem of course but very often this is not the case or I have selfhits which are not worth an email but if I could, I would like to mention this, just to give as much information as possible to the note and make it more special for me and easier to remember that bill if a hit occurs... so I support the idea of ElBarto. 8)
