That's very strange to look birches which has their green leafs covered by snow. When i look out, i see few green birches, few yellows, but not any without leafs... except one maple. :)

This stupid snow... i have summer tires in my car, and my distance to my winter tires is 160 kilometers. Those are in my parents carage, because i have no room for them in my own flat. I must to wait that this snow melts, if it does it before spring. :(

fantastic picures. It looks very like parts of Scotland.

I found this website with pictures taken in Muonio, Enontekiö, Kilpisjärvi area (the northwestern arm of Finland) a month ago. It is in German, there are some nice pictures.

Yes, there are some similarities. :) Although Scottish mountains are much higher than Finnish hills. I'll add a link with more autumn pictures from central parts of Lapland. This time from a Frenchman.

As you can see most of Lapland is just endless forests. Scotch pines (Pinus sylvestris) are not so rare in Lapland as in Scotland. Actually foreign tourists driving on main Finnish highways sometimes complain that they can only see trees.
