Well, they're about as special as normal circulation coins get. They're not worth much (yet), if you pass at your national bank (or post office, perhaps), you'll probably get them as normal change. But still, I got my 50 coins some weeks ago in Brussels. Already 25 pieces spent :D

If you ever came across one with that Piazza del Campidoglio/Treaty design, and an inscription in English, that would be extremely special indeed.

I like the ToR coins - in italian we use the plural " trattati di Roma " - I have the :flag-it: & :flag-fi: but I am going to get all the other 11 . I like the word EUROPA written in the language of each :flag-eu: country. I want to see the :flag-lu: one : with that particular :!:

With the two German language member states that is kind of funny: Here in Germany, and thus also on the German €2 coin, it's the plural "Römische Verträge" (ie. Roman Treaties). On the Austrian coin, however, it is "Vertrag von Rom" (ie. Treaty of Rome) ...

In 2009 the euro countries will issue another common €2 coin. These new pieces will be dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the euro. The common currency was "born" on 1 January 1999, even though the euro cash came later ...
