If it wasn't devoted to a specific religion, it would have been written in plural, because each religion has its own god.
Currently it's quite clear that it's talking about the god of christian religion, because that's what it means in western Europe if you talk about "the God".
That the god of christian religion happens to be called by a name that coincides with the name of its species, doesn't mean that the bible is talking about all the gods on this planet when it's referring to the dude as "God".

I personally do find the text insulting. It's also my money, and telling an "official opinion" of the society I live in. I find it annoying that I am being defined out from the group I feel like belonging to.

Even worse then the Dutch inscription is the fact that a non-democratic and non-EU member can finance it self speculating with Euro coins that mints in very low quantities.. Yeah, I'm talking about the Vatican

By the way, in general I don't like the idea of very exclusive coins, they're supposed to be a common object that circulates everywhere.

Back to the topic: I love birds, Finnish and Greek are my favourite, voted on the Greek one because I also like the Greek text on it

YEAH!! I collect coins, but I don't collect the vatican ones (nor those from Monaco nor from San Marino...) I think it is quite stupid to spend money on it because I am a student and I can't spend my money like that!

I also like your choice: the Greek coin is good.

I voted others because I want more choice and because I don't really have a single favorite 1€ coin , I like Italy because of Leonardo , I like Austria because of Wolfgang-Amadeus and I like Eire because of Celtic harp :D' and I also like the Finnish geese and Greek bird is not too bad either and I love the ships on their cents , French, German and Portuguese coins are OK ': but I am not too sure I am very pleased with monarchs and I certainly do not appriciate vaticano and their popes :x' , although I wish I had some of these coins as they are worh a lot '8)'
Happy 2008 to you all
and long life to EBT reunited in January 2008 ':D')
