Just out of curiosity...

Post by Annie_in_exile »

Annie is back with her crazy questions! :P Would it be possible to find out how many notes there have been between the hits? Several users have listed their own hit ratios lately, but I would love to have a look back in the database (if I could) and make a sample list like...

Looking back from 5.7. we've had
453 "empty" notes
1 hit
331 empty notes
1 hit
etc.

Pleeeeaaase? :)

Hi Annie, just to clarify: would you like to get such stats a) per website, b) per country or c) per user?

Hihihi... the answer is "yes". :D

Actually, I had just the general situation on my mind, so I'd love to have an overall look on the recent notes. But if you've got too much time on your hands, please feel free to present all three options

(And sorry that I haven't answered earlier, have been out of town for a couple of days. Summer! Holiday! Travelling! Spending and collecting euros! Yay!)

I hadn't forgotten your request (how could I?), but I was somewhat worried that I couldn't present the information in an interesting way. In any case, here you can see options A and B, just browse through the tabs on the bottom. 1.1.2002 is on the left, 17.7.2004 is on the right. Honestly, watching electrical noise from an untuned TV channel might be more interesting than those graphs.

Those are indeed excellent excuses for that slight delay. I wish I could use those excuses myself :? Well, at least I get to hear Stevie Wonder live tomorrow, so life's not that bad.

Ok, I'm not ungrateful although I haven't written any comments about this query yet. I just wanted to have a good look at the results first (and preferably understand them as well before making any irrelevant comments). Then I also wanted to see what all the other users would say... but it's been incredibly quiet here. What, don't you guys appreciate this kind of efforts?

What else can I say but Thank you Avij once again for diving into the ever-growing database and splashing in it! :P Either I must be even more of a masochist than I thought, or maybe it takes a special eye for a detail to appreciate this kind of statistics. I *really* do find these interesting, and every time I enter a larger amount of notes at the same time, I find comfort in the thought of "now that I've entered 50 notes at one go, statistically thinking a hit is not far away. And what you wrote about the graphs yourself may at first glance seem true, but I think that the Greek situation is clearer now when it's seen in figures. Brings new meaning to the phrase "few and far between", doesn't it?

But in short: Thanks! says Annie the number-addict
