Lllucky meeh!

Post by Dakkus »

This summer I spent five weeks hitchhiking around Europe with my girlfriend. It was a lot of fun indeed. But there was this one little unhappy thing that happened.
On the second day of the trip I forgot my phone into a car. We could call the phone and talked to the person whose car it was. But we didn't know where she should send it, so we told her we'd phone her again later.
Well.. We did. And the battery had died and I had PIN-code asking set ON in my phone. So.. No can do. The phone was lost. Nothing could be done about it. :(

Well.. Actually it's should not be that bad thing to forget a piece of material stuff somewhere. A hundred euros doesn't really mean much when the travel's budget goes over 1000€. So.. Why to be sad?
There is a reason. Really. There is.
You see, I had entered all the notes i had gotten into the phone. And now that the phone was lost, I had lost tens and tens of precious serial numbers and dots around Europe. So, fellow trackers, is there anything sadder than that that could happen? No, this one supposes.

Yesterday was an interesting day. My girlfriend got an SMS. It said something like "Hi, I'm rudi from Austria and I've got your friend's phone. What should I do?".
So.. In a few days me and my lovely serial numbers (accompanied by the phone) should be reunited and wheeee!
Guess what, folks. This one is happy :)

Have a nice day, I'll go buy some yoghurt.

Well, once again it goes to show that there still are honest people!
You'll get your phone and serialnumbers back after all. What puzzles me though is the fact that "Rudi" managed to retrieve your girlfriends phonenumber from the phonebook of your phone, as it was set to require the PIN? Nah, why bother... You're happy, that's all that matters..
EDIT: I take it you used your girlfriends phone, and so "Rudi"stored her number?? :!:

What a surprise that must have been!

I wish you get a hit on that phone but at least it will give you your desired dots in Europe.

Peace

Well that deserves two hits if I must say. :D
Ah, look at all the lonely Euronotes. Where do they all come from? (The Beatles, Eleanor Rigby)

Well.. The phonebook is in the phone's memory, not on the simcard. But the problem was the phone was in Finnish language. After spending ages going to different cell phone shops asking if they could help (they couldn't, because they were lazy...), the person to whose car I had forgotten my phone to remembered that a person from her village had been in Finland as an exchange student. Well.. He didn't know Finnish too well, but was nevertheless able to change the language to English.
The girl to whose I car I forgot my phone to remembered my girlfriend's name is Fanny and then they found her number and contacted her.
I found out this story by emailing Rudi yesterday :)
