Hello Portugal! I have a question: the 5th international Eurobilltracker meeting has just been organised and we still haven't seen any Portuguese participants in any of them, and yet there are so many active Portuguese trackers in your country. Why is that? Come on, your ancestors were the great explorers of the world! We miss you.

Hi Annie,
Yes, that is a fact, everybody misses us
I believe our absence is mainly for three major reasons:
1 - We`re far from the center of Europe, so we need to fly everywhere
2 - Unfortunatelly, and due to the increase of prices of everything we are unable to travel as much as we want
3 - Usually we set holidays according to time of year thats cheaper (in the travel destiny we want), and summertime it´s not cheaper at all.
That`s my opinion, others will have their own
By the way ... why didn`t you find any of my bills in Belgium ?

Thanks for your quick reply, Suntzu! Why don't you mention this on the 'real' Portuguese forum so that people could start saving now for next summer's EBTM?
According to this site, the cheapest flights would have been a bit over 200 euros, so it's 5 euros in the piggy bank every week. Besides, Finland isn't exactly in the heart of Europe and yet you see so many Finns attending these meetings.

Anyway, what did they say about Muhammed and the mountain? If the Portuguese users won't come to the meetings, we (or at least I) would like to come to Portugal in the winter time. Maybe you could volunteer to organise a meeting, even though one of the criteria is that the organisers should have attended at least one international meeting before that?
And when it comes to finding notes, I keep wondering the same thing. Lots of notes I have brought to Belgium with me just seem to disappear. There must be a money-eating monster somewhere.

In the day that my bills were spreaded all over Zaventem (location of Hoppa), Hoppa moved to Tienen

I can only speak for myself. This time I considered seriously being present at this meeting, but it was not possible at all for me. I would like to go by car (going by plane will be a little expensive, because I have a big family), tracking and doing some dot hunting, but this time it was not possible. We have talked about organizing a international meeting in Portugal, but first, one or some of us need to come to an international one... Maybe next year...Annie_in_exile wrote:[...] the 5th international Eurobilltracker meeting has just been organised and we still haven't seen any Portuguese participants in any of them [...]

Haha, just organise a big Portuguese meeting somewhere in the middle of the winter and mention it on the international forum... and we'll come as surprise guests

I really hoped to meet you and other portuguese users in Ljubljana as I knew you spoke about this possibility during spring time.Castanhola wrote:I can only speak for myself.
